With its spectacular clifftop chateau. 7km away, across the Rhone river and into the Drome-Provencale. Is Montelimar, a bigger town famous for its production of the confectionary nougat. The Drome itself is famous for its fruit orchards, lavender fields and olive tree plantations. Follow the Rhone south into Provence. As the TGV goes to Montelimar.

To find local vineyards and markets, Roman villages and the spectacular gorges of the Ardeche (which you can explore in a canoe if you feel adventurous enough). Within an easy drive are the historic cities of Provence, including Orange, Avignon and Arles.
