Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. Earned me was misery. This was particularly true with the twins; I went in for my weekly visit at 36 weeks,. Ready, thinking my doctor would schedule me for the following day (a Thursday, and his day in the OR.) When he scheduled me for the. Thursday, I cried for days. I was done having kids by the time I was 27, so maybe I was too young to have learned yet that it is always ALWAYS better to overestimate the arrival of something waited for. 8230; then I will host again.

Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. Sand River and Almost Missing the Migration. So, we made our plans – and set up camp, but this time the silence was isolating as we stared out at mile upon mile of – NOTHING. The herd had not reached the Mara. Presumably there were a MILLION wildebeest kicking up dust and rumbling incessantly somewhere in Tanzania still, but Kenya was quiet and the grass was eye-ball high. But Not A Single Wildebeest. Teasing us in all its freshness. The kids were happy – sleeping b...

Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. 8220;Bored and Brilliant.”. I’ve started listening to a new podcast called. When I first tuned in (recently… last week? They were in the middle of a series they are calling “Bored and Brilliant.” It was the fifth-or-something episode in the series, but I pretty much got the gist right away, without having to backtrack through prior episodes to get myself aligned with the premise, which was – Your Smartphone is Sapping your Soul. Do we have a better word? Like I said, I ha...

En Todas Las Cosas: November 2012
http://entodaslascosas.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
En Todas Las Cosas. Saturday, November 24, 2012. Yes, this is the time of the year when one {usually} has a moment to reflect on the things that one is thankful for. It is because of this moment that I've decided to join the world of blogging again. I'm not making any promises.this may be the next "WHES" post {ahem.Gramie} that stays here for more than 1/2 a year! The first {possibly the last} of this string of God's many blessings is about the same thing that I shared at the Thanksgiving table this year.

Do you remember staying at our house for Rosie’s wedding? Your family picture has been on our refrigerator and we had been semi- faithful to pray for you over the years, however I seemed to have misplaced it😦. Awesome to see you in God’s awesome adventure. En Todas Las Cosas. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. We had a little family celebration on the 8th! We woke up and opened presents from the grandparents. Thank you so much Gramie for such a special doll hand-made in Peru! How did you know I loved these? Thanks Nanni for my new book:). Then ate her "favorite" Korean BBQ for dinner:)! She loved the cartoons:). The day ended with the whole Speicher clan plus Gramie singing happy birthday and watching her eat a jelly doughnut! I think it was all a little tiring!

Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. For the first time in my life, each night when I take out my contacts, I can find my glasses. There is a metaphor there of things having found their places. The post prior to this one was pretty well loaded with a lot of heavy things — and since then I’ve entered my longest blog silence ever, in my (8? We decided not to add three hours to the climb with a hike around the rim of the crater at the summit. I love how smug their faces were as the bros slowly trickled in behin...

Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. Somehow our summer was defined by races. The Safari Rally is something Reid and his brothers lived for as kids– following the careers of The Flying Sausage and Bjorn Waldegaard and Joginder Singh – Kenya’s famous racing names from back in the day. Two years ago, a similar bush rally passed right by our house in Malewa, and we could sit on the wall of our gate and watch the cars roar past through the clouds of dust. Dust is the theme of the day. BRCK comes to Malewa. So mu...

Less goat, more gazelle… | Thatchwork
https://thatchwork.wordpress.com/2015/07/28/like-a-gazelle
Thatched Thoughts. Patched Work. Less goat, more gazelle…. When we lived in South Sudan, we stayed on a compound, surrounded by a fence – made of sticks – full of animals that we’d gathered or rescued. We had a (grouchy) bush-pig, some hedge-hogs, a few duikers… We had a monkey and for a while I had a gorgeous bush-buck named Diggory. Warren had the cutest little porcupine for a time, that stomped its tiny foot to seem fierce, and spiked Warren in the ankle one night in the dark. We also had a goat.
