Thursday, December 15, 2005. Hi, my name is Andrew Drucker; I'm currently a senior undergraduate at. Swarthmore College. I've set up this page to make my thesis available. To graduate schools and to the public. It's called 'Rich but Useless Information', and it represents independent research in Computability Theory. I hope you like it. and if you're considering making a joke about the title, please consider that I might have heard it already. Thanks for your interest! Such that for any Turing machine.

Thursday, February 16, 2006. My thesis is about hard functions that are useless. But there's a natural structural condition on functions that makes them useful (and hard): they grow faster than Busy Beaver. In such cases they can act as a timer to solve the halting problem. Is this the end of the story? He said he'd asked Carl Jokusch, who gave a 'high-powered' proof. I found an easy proof that proved something stronger:. Proof: Let B[1](x), B[2](x), . be a (nonconstructive) enumeration of all total ...

See that post's comments section for the buildup. Here is a finite version of the censor puzzle (which readers should review for the scenario):. Given k 0,. There is an N. Independent of the alphabet and allowed/forbidden word classification system), such that any text of length N. Has a parsing into k. Where R(k, k). But R(k, k). Edge (i, j).

Monday, November 27, 2006. Drawing on the Hyperanalytical Side of the Brain. What's the deal with drawing? Why's it so hard for most people? By 'drawing' I specifically mean an attempt to reproduce on paper some thing or image that's actually in front of you. Way back when I had a serious interest in drawing; the most important and useful book I ever read on the subject is called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. I don't think this is a novel or controversial thesis. Furthermore, plenty of book...

Sunday, October 29, 2006. WLOG is mathematics-speak for 'without loss of generality', which means 'restricting ourselves to considering a special case, which is not really a restriction'. For example, is there a drive from Berkeley to Las Vegas that's less than 500 miles? WLOG we can look for one that doesn't involve visiting any one spot twice. The above example illustrates two features of WLOG claims:. I) They are frequently commonsensical observations;. Circle Packing: Given a set of circles of ration...
