The new garden certainly is doing a grand job of attracting the insects. We’ve even had some butterflies, species never previously seen in our garden. Admittedly that do...Since then ...

The Oxcliffe Vixen: April 2015

http://theoxcliffevixen.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 25 April 2015. It’s happened once more. Just before we go on holiday, my ears block up with wax. I’ve hastily put in some olive oil and the wax seems to be flowing out. My consolation is that at least we’re not flying. Having ears full of wax and flying can be very uncomfortable. A long train journey shouldn’t have any effect. Posted by The Oxcliffe Fox. Friday, 24 April 2015. On one pergola the clematis is beginning to open out. The flower seems small, but a wonderfully deep purple with a ...

The Oxcliffe Vixen: December 2014

http://theoxcliffevixen.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Afterwards we popped down to the village pub. We met up with some acquaintances who’d spent Christmas in a self-catering cottage in Boot, in Cumbria. They’d had a wonderful time. We reminisced about some of our visits there. More cheery conversation began as the friends and acquaintances talked about the “joy” of life in the village centre. Heysham is an old, quite picturesque village, many of the houses dating from the 17. There's just one more thing to say. As a result we d...

The Oxcliffe Vixen: The good meat hunt

http://theoxcliffevixen.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-good-meat-hunt.html

Saturday, 1 August 2015. The good meat hunt. We’re trying a new butcher. Our farmer who used to sell to us at the local Farmers’ Market (now longer around) and subsequently delivered to our home, decided a year or so ago to cease selling direct to the public & sell instead through the local auction house . Since then we’ve been trying all sorts of places to try to get as good meat. 8220;For pulled pork? 8221; he instantly asked. 8220;Yes,” I replied. So it’s pulled pork for dinner today. Above all we&#82...

The ramblings, musings and domestic and social adventures of a middle-aged man living in the north-west of England. Friday, 28 June 2013. A new boy in the school. WE ARE SITTING in that institutionalised emblem of middle class respectability – the local golf club. Rather nice it is, too.
