The Distilled Experiences of a Temporary American Expatriate. Posted by: Travis Snyder. May 23, 2012. It’s a bit of a stretch to keep writing sometimes. Not because I am out of things to say, but because I worry about an exhausted readership. Life meanders forward, whatever that means. Long It’s also difficult given the import/export of tourists. I don’t see the same people every day on the streets or in particular locations. I’m just not there yet. So, instead, the best I can do is reintroduce those I k...

The Distilled Experiences of a Temporary American Expatriate. Posted by: Travis Snyder. June 8, 2012. There’s nothing we can do. But I can’t go on like this! Would you like a radish? Is that all there is? There are radishes and turnips. Are there no carrots? No Anyway you overdo it with your carrots. Then give me a radish. (. Vladimir fumbles in his pockets, finds nothing but turnips, finally brings out a radish and hands it to Estragon who examines it, sniffs it. It’s a radish. I only like the pink ones!

The Distilled Experiences of a Temporary American Expatriate. Posted by: Travis Snyder. May 13, 2012. I don’t usually like having questions as titles, but nothing quite worked as a statement. Sometimes you can’t help but be confronted by some things that make you wonder:. Is that man wearing a tuxedo to lunch? Is she painting her nails while reading in Ancient Greek? Is he talking on the phone about semiotics while smoking a pipe? Of course, I have been fortunate in circumstance to be able to afford to c...

Two friends writing reviews. February 18, 2012. When I first flew into Heathrow, I got on a bus for Oxford. My stop was to be “Gloucester Green,” which is stupidly pronounced “GLOU ster” with a complete disregard for the middle syllable. A lot of the much-hyped British accent, I think, is utter nonsense. If there is a middle syllable that is “ce,” then I guess you just ignore it. There’s a Worcester college at Oxford, and it is pronounced “WOO ster.” This seems especially silly to me. Now, the accents.

Two friends writing reviews. Author Archives: Travis Snyder. April 10, 2012. The Hunger Games Considered. Disclaimer: I am going to discuss the Hunger Games movie here. I have not read the book. I am treating the movie as though the book does not exist. If the book interacts with my ideas in any way, it is an accident. Please don’t hurt me. But, the film itself plays up the budding love triangle between the two and that other dude back at the place. However, when it inevitably does get to be about the po...
