Michael Keeling – Pleached Poetry

https://thepoetryplatform.wordpress.com/writers/michael-keeling

Pleached: to interweave, to make or renew, to braid. Michael Keeling returned to Cape Town after sixty years abroad, practising veterinary surgery in England for forty of those years. Rhyme began in letter-writing to his father when separated during the 39/45 war, and he has difficulty in keeping up with modern poetry trends. Playing fields and courts have given way to a comfortable armchair in front of the television set. Photograph supplied by Paul Wise. Walking in the wind. In Old Rangoon (1970).

thepoetryplatform – Pleached Poetry

https://thepoetryplatform.wordpress.com/author/thepoetryplatform

Pleached: to interweave, to make or renew, to braid. Walking in the wind. September 3, 2016. The wind tugs at their hair and teases their clothes. But they do not care for they are talking and talking. What are they discussing? Probably not local elections or postal strikes. Or the high cost of cauliflowers. Now and then they stop but do not look. At the white-tufted waves or the mountains. Or the squabbling seagulls. Instead they stand for a moment, laughing. Then they carry on walking. September 3, 2016.

Pleached: to interweave, to make or renew, to braid. In Praise of Everyday. September 3, 2016. What day is it? It’s today’ squeaked Piglet. My favourite day’ said Pooh. Just an ordinary morning. Slouches through the kloof. Loiters in the garden. Mingling in wet buchu scent. Just a little lunch. Sweet basil picked fresh. Cool white wine from. The vineyard in my road. Just a quiet day. When the high drama. Just a calm evening. As the sluggish stream. Catches the last light. Butterflies in the dusk. Soft ra...

McSweeney's Discount Submarines. Chances are it will sink in the end, but at least you'll see what lies beneath the waves. July 8, 2011. New models shipping this month! Don’t be deceived by the lack of posts. This is a relaunch, and that was a nautical joke. Moving on–. Great sun today. Great day for sun. Great day for the Fed. Great day for Republicans. Great fucking day. Everybody, even the dogwood trees and the cast of hawks outside seemed appreciative and smiled and glad. Odd dream, right? At a light...

McSweeney's Discount Submarines. Chances are it will sink in the end, but at least you'll see what lies beneath the waves. September 16, 2013. He thought of his father’s warning about the dangers of the forest at night. As he walked, Edward fingered the hammer of the revolver resting in his pocket. He wondered what a shot would sound like echoing through the trees and out across the valley, unseen, beyond them. He read the words on the screen without thinking of their meaning. Come home,. The last gasp o...

Jake replied, passing a small red plastic lighter to his friend. Dude this brew turned out great, well done. You just can’t be trusted with cocoa. You made two people sick, dude. No one said the art was easy, my young friend. Of course. With the kid? Yup She’s been in here before, never with the kid though.

McSweeney's Discount Submarines. Chances are it will sink in the end, but at least you'll see what lies beneath the waves. March 19, 2011. Love is like a submarine. 8220;For ”. Those of us who sleep after dawn. Know that it is best not to question. Where the pink exultations of day. The anxious will demand: will they leave. And shrink behind the stone tower. Whose bells ring one moment too soon? How about just past the low brick homes,. Their shingles jagged and time-worn. Can I stop the sun from rising?

Rhetorical Dissection #1 | McSweeney's Discount Submarines

https://discountsubmarines.wordpress.com/2011/07/09/rhetorical-dissection-1

McSweeney's Discount Submarines. Chances are it will sink in the end, but at least you'll see what lies beneath the waves. July 9, 2011. Today, let’s look at entitlements. And the recent and/or current rhetoric flying around this proud American institution. We could inflate this idea to cover all political discourse, from the debt-ceiling to free trade, but at the end of the day it’s the promises we cannot keep that are dragging us off the cliff. The history of state welfare. 8212; but their words? Expre...

Pleached: to interweave, to make or renew, to braid. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. August 31, 2013. We lived on the middle floor. Many rooms, airy, comfortable. Space for three children. Is the cellar,. Dank and dark,. With room for nasty secrets. To clink in corners. I hate to descend. Now I live alone in the loft. Open skylights let in sun and stars. ThePoetryPost

Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Cool face of the river. Asked me for a kiss. From now on, I’m going to try to repeat this haiku like a mantra during shavasana. During those last five or ten minutes of a yoga class when we all lie on our mats in silence, trying to quiet our thinking minds. Those five minutes are harder for me than eagle pose and shoulder-stand combined, if such a thing were possible. But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone. Can you find Icharus's two little legs? Anyhow in a co...

The Poetry Potting Shed

The Poetry Potting Shed. Like my potting shed, this site is an odd assortment of stuff that I've collected over the years. The thought-provoking verse is mixed up with children's poems and corny jingles. Wednesday, December 13, 2006. Even as I write, husband John is outside working on my potting shed. It's a wonderful structure that we designed together. Old deck boards serve as siding and there will be shutters to keep it tight for the winter. It is just as they knew it would be:. Like grass or sidewalks.
