I am an author who attended the Tower Hamlets Book Awards, where a group of students from your school did a stunning presentation of my book, 'Boy in the Tower'. I really wanted to say how impressed and touched I was by their work, their drama piece and the video they created were really fantastic! Upper North Street, London, E14 6DU. http://stebon.org.uk/Learning/The-Stebon-Curriculum
Learning is very good at Stebon because expectations are high and the teachers give us confidence. As a child at Stebon, I am happy to be here as I have good. There are lots of activities that are really fun like tournaments in the summer. You can do excellent things in art and do loads of projects and experiments. This school is a safe, happy and friendly place to be. I think the atmosphere is cheerful because learning is. I would say that teaching is of a high standard. What Ofsted and Others Say.

Upper North Street School in World War I. Most people associate The Blitz with World War Two, but the first airborne terror campaign in Britain took place during the First World War. At that time Mayflower Primary was called Upper North Street School. On the 13th June 1917 the school was bombed from the air by a German plane called a Gotha. This was the first incidence of civilians being targeted in this or any other war. Jack Brown, who was six years old at the time of the bombing. Map: Poplar in 1916.

Peer Tutoring - Mayflower Primary School
http://www.mayflower.towerhamlets.sch.uk/events/peer-tutoring
In KS1 and LKS2, we have been using peer tutoring. To develop our pupils reading skills. Research has shown that this can be a powerful tool for improving attainment across the curriculum. Children in LKS2 have been trained as peer tutors and have a weekly session to read with a friend in KS1. We have been really impressed with their professionalism and can already see some future teachers developing! Joanna and Ange, Millennium School. Upper North Street, London, E14 6DU. Matisse class had a fantstic trip to cemetery park as part of science week. We got up close and personal with the flora and fauna in the park and found out all about the spring flowers that were in bloom. What a fantastic school! Enthusiastic children and very welcoming staff. Look forward to my next visit.". Steve Iredale, NAHT Primary Futures Manager. Upper North Street, London, E14 6DU. Mayflower has recently commissioned a professional artist to create an artwork for us. Sara Haywood has made The Big Book to inspire our pupils in their storytelling. We have been creating some art in response to it as well as showing it at a celebration event for the Poplar Partnership schools. Here is a sneek preview of what you can find inside The Big Book . Your curriculum is one of the most exciting I have seen - keep up the good work! Tilly Brooke, Now Press Play. Upper North Street, London, E14 6DU.
