The Ringing Times: November 2013

http://www.theringingtimes.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, 30 November 2013. And without further ado. And stories of how I got in to ringing. Winter ringing in orchards is aimed at catching the winter thrushes visiting us. Obviously a great many turn up along with other species avoiding the cold winter in Europe. Lucky us! First bird out of the net.what a result.Little Owls usually hang around orchards anyway and I have seen them where we have been ringing before but never caught one.till now. Second visit.this juvenile male turned up. A man called Reg.

The Ringing Times: New set up

http://www.theringingtimes.blogspot.com/2014/04/new-set-up.html

Tuesday, 8 April 2014. Heres Spring.and I have managed to bag a little site in an orchard amongst some old disused trees.so this will be my experimental site for the Spring and Summer. Whilst setting up I managed to catch a Blackcap, Chiffchaff and 4 Bullfinch (not really the orchard owners friend! Sadly I didnt have my camera, but when I am out and about ringing there I certainly will have. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A quick ring in the garden. Watermark template. Powered by Blogger.

The Ringing Times: January 2014

http://www.theringingtimes.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Monday, 20 January 2014. The Spring like weather continued this visit, Sunday 19 Jan. Its been warm enough lately, and wet enough, that the seed in my feeders in the garden has sprouted! Luckily here at the orchard there is at least enough interest, or enough birds, to keep the feeders ticking over, though as you would expect theres no real birds of any difference or big numbers as there would be if the weather were.well.actually wintery. Sunday, 12 January 2014. Its always nice to catch a Coal Tit.

The Gravel Pits: You did what to it........?

http://grahambarker.blogspot.com/2015/07/you-did-what-to-it.html

Tuesday, 14 July 2015. You did what to it? Its hard to believe how people react sometimes. To other animals. I find it hard to believe that people go round killing sharks or crocodiles that have eaten someone, like these animals are supposed to know any different after millions of years of evolution have simply told them to 'eat it'. Butif this had happened recently I would have had to take this person to task. What did they really think they were doing? And how could they justify their reaction?

With the better weather (until today when its been misty rain on and off all day) I have managed a couple of trapping sessions recently.though I have to say so far im not over impressed with the Summer weather so far. This micro moth is blessed with both a latin name and a common name.as you know most micro moths usually only get a latin name. Gold Triangle, Hypsopygia costalis. Birds Wing, Dypterygia scabriuscula. True Lovers Knot, Lycophotia porphyrea.

Monday, October 8, 2012. So when's your next show? The title of this blog is a question that I get asked frequently, and I always feel the most awkward/uncomfortable answering it for people. (I'm awkward 95% of the time anyway) But I am going to explain the whole shebang of what's going on with our band, what the heck happened to us in the past year, and why. we are no longer a band. And honestly, I am not playing the blame game here. My intention is not to completely bash the people that have joined...
