The Running Duck Farm
Running Duck Farm Geese
http://www.therunningduckfarm.com/geese.htm
The Running Duck Farm. Sebastopol and Pilgrim Geese. We hatched 2 Sebastopol and 2 Pilgrim geese in the spring of 2003. We picked goose breeds that are reputed to be relatively docile and friendly and these are full of personality. Whereas the ducks are more like cats - they show up for food, the geese are more like dogs and rush over to see what's going on whenever we go out. Pictures of all four here. And more - at the pool (fortunately closed for the season) here.
And Beyond
http://www.therunningduckfarm.com/and_beyond.htm
And Beyond.Off the Farm and Out of North Carolina. Cooperstown, New York. We grew up in Cooperstown and although we don't get back there very often, it is a beautiful place to visit and has remained remarkably unchanged in many ways since we left in the 1960's. Cooperstown is known first and foremost for the Baseball Hall of Fame. It has grown bigger and better over the years. It is a wonderful destination for the whole family with exhibits for everyone. And the Femimore Art Museum.
Neighborhood
http://www.therunningduckfarm.com/in_the_neighborhood.htm
Our friends and close neighbors the Zacharys - Carol, Ashley, and Tim hold horse shows at their farm. These are schooling shows and have been a great place for young (and not so young) riders to test and perfect their showmanship. And in addition to the all the riding and competition, Tim cooks up the very best food. You will find at a horse show. We've been acting as show secretary and announcer, learning a lot and having the most fun. Details about lessons, shows, directions, and more. October 19, 2004.
Chickens
http://www.therunningduckfarm.com/spitzhauben.htm
The Running Duck Farm. The Running Duck Farm. The spitzhauben (spitz) is said to be the national chicken of Switzerland where it originated. It is a beautiful black and white bird with a forward facing crest (spitzhauben = pointed hood, hat, or bonnet). They are active foragers. And we expect for them to give the runners and the guineas lots of competition for the best bugs. Well, now we know what happens when it snows - it did get them out of the trees.
Runner Ducks
http://www.therunningduckfarm.com/indian_runner_ducks.htm
The Running Duck Farm. Aka Runner Ducks or Runners). These ducks don't waddle, they run. Great foragers, excellent layers, and just plain fun to have around, Indian Runners are a fine choice for the home flock. Most of our flock consists of fawn and white runners but we have two white ducks and occasionally some others. This lovely white duck came to breakfast one morning adorned with a leaf necklace of her own making. These are ducks with panache - we love them. Here's a sampling of pictures.

Welcome to the The Running Duck Farm! This site features pictures of the animals on our small farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with links to sites we found useful as we got started with poultry and ones we continue to enjoy. We began with Indian Runner Ducks. And have added guineas,. Sebastopol and Pilgrim geese. And Appenzeller Spitzhauben chickens. We have a small flock of sheep. And, of course, a cat. Overseeing the whole operation, we have a livestock guardian dog - a wonderful Akbash Dog.

The Running Dutchman | Stories from the roads and trails
Stories from the roads and trails. Hear all about it. Solo yet connected in the mountains. July 13, 2015. By Diederik van Hoogstraten. I’ve never understood people who call running boring. These days I simply say “sorry to hear it” or “maybe another sport could work”. But I still think what I used to say to people: if you’re bored you haven’t looked, listened, smelled,. Posted in Pictures I would never have taken if I weren't a runner. Old friends in new places. July 9, 2015. By Diederik van Hoogstraten.
