The Running Goober

Saturday, May 23, 2015. Running Goober Catch Up Post. So it's been over a month since I last posted! To say May has been a busy month is an understatement. I have been out of town every weekend except for Memorial Day weekend and I'll be in town to work. The first weekend in May started out with a bang! I was in Ocean City, MD for a wedding and a half marathon. It was a great girls weekend and to top it off I crushed my sub-2 half goal for this race, 1:53:10. My race recap will be up sometime soon. The Running Goober: Weekly Workouts March 29- April 4

http://www.therunninggoober.blogspot.com/2015/04/weekly-workouts-march-29-april-4.html

Sunday, April 5, 2015. Weekly Workouts March 29- April 4. I hope everyone has a great Easter and that you get the chance to spend time with your loved ones. I'll be spending the day with both my husband's family and my family so it should be a fun day. I had some great workouts this week. I had picked up overtime at work and was disappointed that I would then most likely only get 3 workouts in. Well Sunday after work I was so full of energy that I went to the gym and got that 4th workout in!

The Running Goober: Friday Five: Brands to Love

http://www.therunninggoober.blogspot.com/2015/04/friday-five-brands-to-love.html

Friday, April 17, 2015. Friday Five: Brands to Love. I'm linking up with the ladies of the DC trifecta, Mar. For the Friday Five. Be sure to check out their posts too. This weeks topic is brands to love. There are so many brands in the fitness world and I have tried out quite a few of them. Picking a top 5 was pretty tough, but here are my top five favorite brands. These headbands are the best things ever! We wore Sparkly Soul Headbands during the Enchanted 10K for a headband and for Cinderella's necklace.

The Running Goober: Winning with Wellness 5K Race Recap

http://www.therunninggoober.blogspot.com/2015/04/winning-with-wellness-5k-race-recap.html

Friday, April 10, 2015. Winning with Wellness 5K Race Recap. Last Saturday I ran the Winning with Wellness 5K. After achieving my 10K PR goal at the Shamrock 10K. Two weeks prior I knew I had it in me to PR in the 5K distance so I signed up for this race. To say the odds were against me that day would be an understatement. We woke up to temps in the upper 30's with 20 mph wind gusts plus a chance of rain. For some reason I decided I would get hot running in a jacket (not! He pinky promised that he didn't...

Run Freckles Run: Random Wednesday

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2015/08/random-wednesday.html

I am a bit on the random side lately, so here's just a little bit of what I've been up to lately! I have been waking up at 5 o'clock in the morning in order to have enough time to yoga and meditation. At first it was very difficult to adapt to the early mornings, but now I look forward to spending my morning to this practice. It wakes me up, eases my mind, and starts my day out right! Building strength for a yoga headstand #runnersloveyoga #yoga #yogi. Jul 14, 2015 at 3:56am PDT. I am doing my first glow...

Run Freckles Run: Reevaluating my Passion

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2015/07/reevaluating-my-passion.html

It's been one of those weeks that I have taken step back and reevaluated my running plan. Everything will continue as it has already been scheduled, but things are going to change. I had no idea that this JFK training was going to do this to me, but I am glad that it did. So here is the breakdown of my random ideas that are coming in 2016. Another plan for next year is more trail running. In fact, I want to hit the trail for the majority of my runs. I feel like I have run every road in Washington...I eve...

Run Freckles Run: The Dreaded Pooch Part 2

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2013/10/the-dreaded-pouch-part-2.html

The Dreaded Pooch Part 2. You may recall that I wrote an entry. A few months back about our dear friend, "The Pooch." In most cases, poor diet and exercise is the number one cause of this lower belly bulge. But for those of you who frequently make an effort to eat right and workout several days a week, may still have that annoying sag in your stomach. In some circumstances, a belly pooch may actually lie in your hips. As I explained in my previous post. Here are my results. Here is a photo that shows the...

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2015/08/five-things-friday-what-i-have.html

Five Things Friday: What I Have Discovered From Being More Mindful. As you know, I have taken up meditation and it has really opened my eyes to how my mind works. It is almost scary what I have come to discover about myself! I wanted to share with you just a few of the things I have noticed from becoming more mindful. Maybe you will also find that you do the same things. I use negative words far to often. I lose myself in thoughts of the city rather than focusing on what I truly want! I would go back and...

Run Freckles Run: When 3 Meals a Day Isn't Enough

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2015/07/when-3-meals-day-isnt-enough.html

When 3 Meals a Day Isn't Enough. I feel like I grew up in one of the last generations where eating 3 meals a day was the rule of thumb. In fact, we were discouraged from eating outside of those designated meal times because that is where most thought weight gain stemmed from. It was considered overeating. So we had to put down the fork and wait until the next meal, which may have been 5 or 6 hours away! It should be obvious that this method encouraged weight gain, but we followed this idea for years!

Run Freckles Run: Friday Morning Trail Run

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2015/07/friday-morning-trail-run.html

Friday Morning Trail Run. There are two things I rarely do: Run in the morning on a weekday and run on a Friday. Today, Peter and I did both. Because we were off work, we decided to take advantage of the extra free time and get out to the AT. It was a nice change of pace. My legs were still asleep when we got there, but the run felt great! The temps were cooler and the humidity was low. Makes me crave fall weather! Also, it was gorgeous out! I wasn't so gorgeous. You can't lose your focus for a second!

Run Freckles Run: About RFR

http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/p/about-rfr.html

I became interested in the wonderful world of running back in 2009. It was an accident, really. I was researching quick ways to get in shape and I heard about High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). I was without a gym membership or home equipment. Running was my only (and least favorite) option, but it was free and you can do it just about anywhere. 2009 Turkey Trot with my dad. This time, it didn't stop there. I not only saw those few pounds melt, but my stress and anxiety were radically reduced&#...

Race Recap: On Your Mark, Get Set, GLOW 5K! I must say that life has been nothing short of amazing. It's funny how stepping out of one perspective and into another can change what once was dark into a bright light. Our lives are full books and something you are stressed about could be a mere sentence. It WILL pass. Do not dwell and do not worry. Anyway, that is my "feel good" message of the day. Now, on to my race recap! Besides, it is really close to where I live. Can't say no to local races. I dressed ...
