The Sabbaticalist: Fondue and Olives

http://thesabbaticalist.blogspot.com/2010/08/fondue-and-olives.html

A blog about changing hats, at least for a while. Monday, August 2, 2010. Haven't been out in the community of clay as much in the past couple of weeks. I did NOT make it to Smith College to see Emily Eveleth, although I still hope to (I am heading back to VT tonight to finish up the treehouse so perhaps on my way home on Wednesday? In Vermont), Jim Gottuso posted on his blog, Sofia's Dad's Pots. A form that was kind of similiar, although more baroque and elegant and beautiful:. The next ones are a direc...

The Sabbaticalist: January 2010

A blog about changing hats, at least for a while. Thursday, January 28, 2010. Finally took some photos. Figuring out lighting is no easy task. I'm going to put some of these on the website. Monday, January 25, 2010. Old Guys Getting Old. Is it just me or do most guys getting older tend to identify with the aging athletes on their favorite teams? And I wasn't really identifying with him as much as I was identifying with his knees. Twice for her crazy dancing! Here we are trying to catch a glimpse. The lea...

The Sabbaticalist: A Followup on the PMC (2)

A blog about changing hats, at least for a while. Monday, August 9, 2010. A Followup on the PMC (2). One of my fascinations with this event is the personalization of this somewhat abstract cause. "Fighting cancer" is hard for me to grasp at times. How many different forms of cancer are there? How does a $25.oo or $50.00 or $250.oo donation contribute to this battle? What can we really. Do to make a difference? And then I see all these shirts. I feel so inadequate and powerful at the same time. Pinoy Cook...

The Sabbaticalist: December 2009

http://thesabbaticalist.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

A blog about changing hats, at least for a while. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Warren MacKenzie, part I. On Christmas Eve Eve, I took Liam down to Brockton to the Fuller Craft Museum. So we could see the retrospective of Warren MacKenzie's work that is traveling around the country. It was a beautiful show, filled with his strong work, and well worth the visit. This morning, the 26th, I reread an essay by Garth Clark. Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Was reading Kristen Kieffer'. Mug She was surprised that I m...

GreenFire: March 2010

http://greenfirekiln.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 19, 2010. First Firing of the 2010. Nora started the firing around 6am. We decided to keep the temp low for a bit, especially compared to how the Adventure Firing went in the fall (at cone 8 in 4 hours! We were worried about the residual moisture from the winter plus we had an enormous amount of rain in the previous 4 days (where yesterday we candled with propane for about six hours and we had good sunshine). Stopped feeding wood - monitored cooling. Saturday, March 13, 2010. This week is a...

GreenFire: Loading Complete

http://greenfirekiln.blogspot.com/2010/03/loading-complete.html

Saturday, March 13, 2010. The kiln is loaded and we are just waiting for good weather to fire. Some of the prep work we did this week: unpacked the curtains, swept out the chambers, chiseled some of the floor (it had some wadding and leftover soda ash from the last firing) and kiln washed the entire ware chamber. I wrote about some of the pieces on the Sabbaticalis. T We will probably fire on Tuesday next. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). First Firing of the 2010.

The Sabbatical Chef

The adventures of an American lover of all things French. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Turning 57 in Times Square. In April, I won a trip to NYC. Am I a lucky girl or what? So, I stood in line for my dog. Now, the guy didn't know it was my birthday, but he gave me a double dog, mustard and ketchup, if you please. It wasn't the best dog I've ever eaten, but you can't beat the location on a Sunday night. We climbed the stairs to the top of the pedestal. We couldn't get tickets to the top unfortunately. I love...

Tuesday, June 12, 2012. This is short because I'm lazy. Krk, is beautiful. Hell, the Adriatic Sea is beautiful. After an 8 hour car ride we finally made it to our destination. The journey from Mohacs to Krk should really only take 5 hours, but we stopped a lot. Can I just say how nice the gas stations and rest stops are in the mountains of Croatia? There was one with a restaurant and playground. I gots myself a nice and fresh HAND SQUEEZED strawberry lemonade. What the what. It was so good! Once there, f...
