Just another WordPress.com site. Mutual fund managers are worthless, incompetent? Sorry to be so blunt. But this question has to be posed. Some mutual funds have nice track records for the last six months. But look at their five- and ten-year performances. Abysmal. Most do not beat the market. Academic papers have been written about it, although you have to do is go to the funds’ websites or read about the ratings and rankings from publications such as. US News and World Reports. Law of Large Numbers.

Just another WordPress.com site. September looks good for markets. Just some quick thoughts on the first week of September, which is historically the worst month of the year for stocks. NEW TRENDS Biggest moves on horizon include palladium, Walmart. If you look at the total market, there has been a modest dropoff of volume the last year or so. Non-correlating with general market: commodities (in a terrible bear market); precious metals. Gold, silver are strongly overbought and will have a modest pullback.
