THE SILK ROAD RUN. Tuesday, August 9, 2011. 20 ON TO ASHGABAT! Starting out mid-morning we seem to be making little progress hour after hour because of the holes and "wash board road surfaces. There are many deep tire paths in the road. When they become too deep and have high ridges that begin to rub on the bottoms of vehicles, they are just leveled with a road grader. Now loose asphalt particulates are all over the roadway in places as we drive. More road hazards along the way. 23 ON TO UZBEKISTAN!

We drove back to her home in the ambulance and unloaded our gear. Robert and I were anxious to connect to the internet in her home. THE SILK ROAD RUN. Saturday, July 30, 2011. 18 ALMOST OUT OF TOWN! There was no ferry leaving today. Hopefully, one will depart tomorrow. We can't purchase tickets until the ferry arrives, and we are the told the captain himself sells the tickets. (We read a previous rally account were there were several different rally teams on the same ferry trip. No one had paid the same fare.). It has been approximately 95 degrees here every day with bright sun and noticeable but not "killer" humidity. Cha cha for now.
