Missionary Support for Eric and Lisa So. Why the Refugee Community? In 2012, after resigning from a past job in government contracting, I took a risk and interned for International Rescue Committee. From 2007-2011: 4,840 refugees from 43 countries in MD. Lack of Community displaced, no family and friends, cultural/language barriers. Lack of Resources money, possessions, transferable work skills. Lack of Hope due to experiences and circumstance. Very little involvement and advocacy from local churches.
