As you can see in the two photos, two apertures once added the appearance of a face to the barn but now whether demolished deliberately, or partly by the weather the roof is no longer functional and not seeing. The barn, somerset. I focused on midsummer’s day for the June Barn. The day, the 21. The skylarks soared and sang (I was probably close to their nests), bees hummed and butterflies fluttered. I was the only person on foot I saw for miles around. Even the ever present traffic seemed to have a more muted hum and an old red tractor clattered across the field on the other side of the road. The barn, somerset. The lushness of the July leaves speed past the car windows. At the far end of the field a large column of smoke is dark against the July sky. Guns from the nearby shooting range echo across the land. We continue to fight for oil, fuel prices continue to rise, birds continue to call and cars, drivers oblivious, drive on by.
