From LA to El Dorado. Monday, September 29, 2008. Elsewhere in the garden. Making a fine show is an aster, noted earlier this year for reappearing after being AWOL last year. Quite a welcome return and a nice bit of fall color. Links to this post. I bought into the concept believing that if there is an inferno strip, it is this area of my yard. These are the survivors. Next up is artemesia Seafoam. It doesn't bloom but is is attractive most of the time. This one is a survivor of two as well. Sunday, Sept...

From LA to El Dorado. Monday, September 21, 2009. Finally Somethings look good! Links to this post. Monday, September 07, 2009. It can't get worse. Despite a mild summer, my garden. Has gone to pot. This year I discover I have spider mites. Never a problem before. They hit all the roses except Mutabilis and nearly wiped out my new bedding. Or a zuchini from my raised bed. Only green beans. Well, moving right along. Maybe I have learned something and next year will be better. Links to this post.

Football — Touring the USA. Farm to Table in Austin, TX. Posts Tagged ‘Vegetable Gardening’. Spaghetti Squash with Tomatillo Sauce. On July 1, 2015 2 Comments. Especially during the summer, I let the garden inspire me on what’s for dinner. Tonight’s combination was spaghetti squash, tomatillos, jalapeños, onion, and tomatoes. I started by cutting the squash in half, and placed it upside down in about 1/2 in of water. I cooked it at 350 for about 40 minutes. I could open a food truck with those. I was in ...

From LA to El Dorado. Sunday, April 26, 2009. More iris this week. Suspect is the first with the dark falls and caramel colored standards. It is an arilbred but looks more like a bearded. Oyex, the second definitely shows the aril in the shape and shadings. It has small leaves and not much of a presence until it flowers. Then you can't take your eyes away. Links to this post.
