Five in Fresno: Arrived
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/arrived.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Monday, June 16, 2008. We all had a pretty good sleep in the hotel, except Carl who complained that the pillows hurt his neck. I had to admit they were ridiculously thick and it felt like your neck was being displaced when you laid down. But I was too tired to care. I know, I know, we are so close to home I can smell the clean prairie air. Well, our mattress was damp and all our bedding, but thankfully we had made arrangements to stay with Judy. The guys p...

Five in Fresno: Leaving From/For Home
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/leaving-fromfor-home.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Friday, June 6, 2008. After our homegroup weekend, it was crunch time for packing. I had done quite a bit, but as we came home, I realized there was so much to do. Arg. And I was so organized and wrote lists and started packing a long time ago and systematically worked through my plan! A picture for Emma of her and Kezia, and a Franklin book. This year went by too quickly and we didn't do all the things we wanted to do with them; but we did make some prett...

Five in Fresno: February 2008
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Friday, February 29, 2008. I came across this quote last week in Ethics class and it just spoke volumes to me. Grace is not blanket endorsement of human autonomy. It does not leave us free to do as we like;. It sets us free to answer a call. Thursday, February 28, 2008. I don't know about you,but I think my girl is made of steel! Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Asha is 7 Months. And she got two new teeth! Today was a pretty good day for Asha. It started off ...

Five in Fresno: January 2008
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Thursday, January 31, 2008. On Thursday, I took Asha to the Doctor, and as I expected, she wasn't very impressed with any part (except waiting in the reception area and giggling with the other babies). She was frustrated when she had to lie down on the scale, hated having her ears prodded by the Doctor, and as soon as the nurse walked in with the tray of needles, she immediately started crying. Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Hear it from Carl - Round 2. 8211; In...

Five in Fresno: Homegroup Hurrah
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/homegroup-hurrah.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Tuesday, June 3, 2008. This past weekend, we went to the coast with our homegroup. We planned this months ago and it just so happened that it was our last weekend here. There were 6 families altogether staying at a beach house in Cambria. From preschool. Kezia had a hard time falling asleep because she was coming down with a cold. Finally we settled in around 1 am. After we cleaned up the house and then headed to the Grill for lunch. It's always a highligh...

Five in Fresno: April 2008
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Tuesday, April 29, 2008. I could tell Carl was nervous, and I wasn't helping by taking forever to set up the camera. He started off giving an overview of his thesis and as he spoke, became less tense and more expressive. He spoke for over 30 minutes, with passion and excitement. It's been ages since I've heard him speak and I've missed it. Tim had a few hard questions and Carl did a very good job responding to them. I'm so proud of Carl and I'm sure that he is...

Five in Fresno: March 2008
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Monday, March 31, 2008. The food was great. My favourite dish was the tofu curry that Megan made. And for dessert, it was a hard decision whether the nanaimo bars that Maddie made or the Porztelky that Carl made were my favourite, so I had a few of each! The program was short and sweet, with a few jokes from different cultures, and the Emcee was so dreamy. It was a good night to celebrate different cultures and eat some great food. We decided that since we all...

Five in Fresno: Leaving - Day 2
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/leaving-day-2.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Saturday, June 7, 2008. Leaving - Day 2. On Thursday we woke up in Yreka CA and had breakfast before heading on the road. It was chilly, only about 10 degrees (50 F) and already I was missing the heat of Fresno. The kids were still tired and the morning drive was relatively quiet. We crossed into Oregon by 10:30 and shortly after it started to rain. If I have time when I get home, I'm going to write someone a letter! Bye bye Trader Joe's. What are you saying?

Five in Fresno: Leaving For - Day 9
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/leaving-for-day-9.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Thursday, June 12, 2008. Leaving For - Day 9. We managed to eat our picnic hunched over in the van and Asha was happy to be out of her carseat. When we loaded the kids in their seats, she was pretty angry about being trapped again. But she settled soon because she realized she could take off her socks and shoes and suck on her toes. It's a changing station! The first one I've seen on this entire trip. Such a small thing, but such a huge amount of joy fills...

Five in Fresno: Leaving - Days 5&6
http://fiveinfresno.blogspot.com/2008/06/leaving-days-5.html
Life of Five Canadians Living in California. Tuesday, June 10, 2008. Leaving - Days 5&6. Sunday was such a relaxing day. I slept really well, until about 4:30 am The sun was up and I wasn't used to having so much light in my bedroom. I lay there for a while and it was too quiet. I missed hearing the leaf blowers across the street in the Vallarta parking lot. I chuckled to myself; how many times had I cursed that crazy blower when I lived in Fresno? The next morning, Monday, we got everyone up and had a q...
