One Man's Ruminations About Faith, Family, and Livin' The Good Life. This blog was established on 18 June 2005. I posted essays frequently for almost four years. Then I went to posting a single blog entry on the last day of every month. I figured The Deliberate Agrarian. Would fade into internet obscurity with the once-a-month "blogazine" format. Sheila's Little Experiments: Coco Plum Fruit and Air Potatoes (Yams)
http://sheilaslittleexperiments.blogspot.com/2015/07/air-potatoes-and-fruits.html
Thursday, July 16, 2015. Coco Plum Fruit and Air Potatoes (Yams). David over at Florida Survival Garden wrote a post about wierd and wild tropical fruit in South Florida. And it reminded me I hadn't checked my Coco Plum. Tree for a few months. It's a bit out of control, eh? There's some Dward Snowbush mixed in on either side of the AC unit, but that crazy Coco plum is over the roof, again! And see that grass? Here's what the fruit looks like, ripe when purple:. Very intriguing. But I've yet to see an...

Thursday, July 16, 2015. Road Hazards and Turtles. This Florida Softshell came up from the pond behind our office, looking like it wanted to lay eggs. I'm a fan of all turtles, but this one isn't particularly attractive. Sorry I didn't get a picture of its face before some of the guys who work next door moved it back along the bank of the pond. Maybe I'll see it again some day. And now for something in the lazy department:. City workers at their finest! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Our two-and-half acre adventure. This has certainly been the month for the layers! All the other January pullets started laying, unfortunately no hen is broody this month, and we weaned the chicks from the broody Eileen, so all 24 pullets and hens were and currently are laying. This has added up to a new record for eggs: 364 eggs during the 31 days of July, that I am aware of! They are here, and they are so tiny! They are also absolutely cute . quick pic. 25 assorted guinea keets. As I watched, both slid...

Long Term Food Storage. On Your Side of the Fence. June 21, 2012. There is no argument to say a well-manicured lawn is something Americans strive for. Riding lawnmowers, an arsenal of RoundUp chemicals, fertilizers and lawn ‘food’ line garage shelves everwhere, and the ranks of good solid men toil under the sun keeping it mowed, watered, weeded and primped because THAT, folks, is what we do. A perfect lawn means you’ve got a perfect life, right? To hell in a handbasket! In that overgrown yard over there!
