The Teacher Talks

Friday, May 24, 2013. The only things I know with certainty are that I love to sing and make music, create shows and help others learn to express themselves through their art. Since the final days of school, I have been feeling uninspired. Deflated. Uncertain of what to tackle over the summer. This is the opposite of what I had hoped school would stimulate. In fact, all of my dearest friends are quite off their rockers! Friday, December 21, 2012. Dawn Boudreau Music 2007-2012. Moving from Prince George b...

The Teacher Talks: My lululemon Rant

http://www.theteachertalks.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-lululemon-rant.html

Monday, August 25, 2008. Did you hear about the sale? One woman asked me. I was a bit confused, since 5 seconds before Shawn and I had been peacefully ambling with our Starbucks in the sunshine along the quiet early morning streets. Well, I didn't want to stand in line, so I am here to pay full price," and she darted away into the store with the other frantic shoppers. They were only allowing 600 shoppers in at once, apparently, and the lineup was huge. Before long, I said, "Let's get out of here.".

The Teacher Talks: June 2008

http://www.theteachertalks.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 28, 2008. The sun is shining! Although I could have spent an hour working on developing my music theory course that I start teaching in a week and a half, I opted instead to hang with my sons at the river. I have never been a lying in the sun kind of person, but I did today. My teenaged boys fished and we enjoyed the peace that draws them there. For me it serves two purposes, time with my boys and adding some color to my ghostly white legs. Now back to work. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Teacher Talks: There's No Business Like It!

http://www.theteachertalks.blogspot.com/2009/06/theres-no-business-like-it.html

Thursday, June 18, 2009. There's No Business Like It! Show business is like a drug. There is an emotional and chemical high that happens during a performance. When the performance is done, you either descend into a low state (Post-Show Depression) or you find another show to work on. Personally, I find it easier to just keep a constant arsenal of shows in progress. Over the past decade, I have managed to maneuver my work and my life so that everything revolves around the shows. Still, what a rush! With J...

The Teacher Talks: Farewells of 2012

http://www.theteachertalks.blogspot.com/2012/12/farewells-of-2012.html

Friday, December 21, 2012. I attempted a year-in-review post, but the events of the past year can not be contained in one post. Today I will write of the farewells of 2012. Dawn Boudreau Music 2007-2012. I shed quite a few tears watching the DVD I prepared as a gift to my Music Family, a slideshow of our years of Bouquet recitals set to songs that express how I feel about them. Especially, Thank You for the Music. By ABBA. Watch the video here. Wreck Beach Memorial to Professor Puff.

The Teacher Talks: Gratitude

http://www.theteachertalks.blogspot.com/2012/12/gratitude.html

Friday, December 14, 2012. It's a beautiful day in East Vancouver. The rain has stopped this morning, but there is still enough cloud cover to keep the city from being too cold. A perfect winter day in Vancouver. The emotion I feel most powerfully, though, is the same one I feel every day: Gratitude. Much of my life has been spent yearning. I am learning to stop yearning and just be. This doesn't mean I don't have goals or things I look forward to. I am looking forward to my daughter's visit ...View my c...

What more can I say?: October 2008

http://thoughtsofamaureen.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

What more can I say? Tuesday, October 28, 2008. We are now coming to end of October and I figure that I should be well on my way to healing! I'm sure it's rather premature, but I 'feel' just fine, unlike my other surgeries. But where the main entry and gall bladder exit wound is, it's pretty swollen. So i'll give it more time. I try to rest and on days when I can wear my super woman under-ware (control top) I do. But there is still soreness and a little bulgie thing. UG! That became my system. I was movi...

What more can I say? Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Adventures in Recording Part 4. We started last week laying down the "bed tracks" (This is the foundation for the album, it consists of the drums, guitar and bass.). The guys were amazing! They easily settled into great grooves and some stellar musicianship was highlighted though out the day. We only used a. What more can I say?: April 2011

What more can I say? Saturday, April 23, 2011. She won a Monday award on a Tuesday. They really, really like me! It was one of those moments for Maureen Washington on Tuesday, when she won a fan-vote based Monday Magazine M award for best jazz and blues vocalist or group at the Victoria Event Centre. Washington grew up in Prince George and moved to Victoria four years ago to take a chance and further her musical career. There are days that you spin your wheels and you ask yourself what you're doing this ...

What more can I say? Thursday, November 11, 2010. Blues in the Night show review by Christine Skorepa - PG Citizen. October 22, 2010. There's something to be said for days gone by when big boxy microphones were used by a bluesy soul songstress as she soothed stressed audience members with her sultry tone. Maureen Washington performed at the Prince George Playhouse last weekend to celebrate her new CD release Blues in the Night and what a night it was. Because the album is dedicated and created for her mo...

What more can I say? Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Yes, it's been what, two decades since I last wrote? Well time for a change and time to start blogging regularly. Apparently blogs are a good way to communicate and to help keep track of all the changes that happen in ones life. Yes, I knew that, as did you. But I wasn't keeping close tabs on all the thoughts and things I was doing. 2009 has been a busy one for me, and here we are at the end of it. whew. what happened to the time? I have no idea. What more can I say? Thursday, August 19, 2010. I moved to this place to create a better life for myself and my children. I really was hoping to see my career take off, which in my mind would mean more money, which would equal a better life. When I first watched her presentation on TED called A DIFFERENT WAY TO THINK ABOUT THE CREATIVE GENIUS. It was mind boggling how effortless she presented. She was in a realm beyond me, and spoke about the creative process I was amazed and I loved it, I ran out bo...

THE LEADER, THE TEACHER & YOU

The true mark of success for a teacher is when one’s student surpasses one’s self. It should be no different for a leader. Ldquo;Wealth does not last beyond three generations,”. Unless there is a codification of values and principles of successful leadership,. And a regular re-expression of the values and principles in ways relevant to each generation.

The Teacher-To-Be | Learning to be the teacher I hope to be

Learning to be the teacher I hope to be. Reflection on Winter Quarter. May 18, 2014. Here I am blogging again! After months away, it feels both foreign and familiar to be back here. It’s hard to believe that Winter quarter was 2 months ago. It feels like it has been much longer, and also just like yesterday. How does all of this make.
