Fight & Write: On Giving Up
http://thefightandwrite.blogspot.com/2013/02/on-giving-up.html
Tuesday, February 19, 2013. I gave up cancer for Lent. I am pretty sure I can get some sort of special dispensation, but I decided to just let it go. I am giving up the worry. I am giving up the insomnia, the feeling of insurmountably, the burden of it all. I am giving up the ache in my bones, the cracked nails and skin. I am giving up the indignity of my body breaking down. I am giving up the itchy wig, the scarves, the head coverings. I am giving up just managing to get by. February 20, 2013 at 11:07 AM.

Fight & Write: Surgery, Expanders, Boobs and Scans, Oh My!
http://thefightandwrite.blogspot.com/2013/08/surgery-expanders-boobs-and-scans-oh-my.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. Surgery, Expanders, Boobs and Scans, Oh My! This is how I have decided to live my life. I have decided that I will not be defined by this cancer. I have decided to try and not spend one extra minute in my day dwelling on it, having it take control over what I do. That of course, is easier said than done. How can you ignore that your life has been threatened? How can you make those minutes matter? It totally makes my husband uncomfortable, but the fact of the matter is, between th...

Chronicling the daily fight against cynicism. April 19, 2010. Stanford run charter denied extension. I’m not surprised at all. Here is the perfect example of why this school did not live up to expectations. From the NYT article. After the vote, Beth Injasoulian, who teaches statistics at the high school, said, This was such an act of courage to start this school despite the challenges. Tom Friedman’s latest column made me laugh out loud | No Cynics Allowed
https://nocynicsallowed.wordpress.com/2010/02/18/tom-friedmans-latest-column-made-me-laugh-out-loud
Chronicling the daily fight against cynicism. February 18, 2010. Tom Friedman’s latest column made me laugh out loud. As I have noted before. I used to be a leading Friedman disciple. However his columns and books have increasingly been about one topic and frankly, they just got boring. Are they wrong or off? I think so, but that remains to be seen. Feels like he didn’t really work that hard on it though. It was that bad. I will leave it to Chris Horner for a detailed critique. I often feel this way.

The Old Tom Friedman | No Cynics Allowed
https://nocynicsallowed.wordpress.com/2009/01/14/the-old-tom-friedman
Chronicling the daily fight against cynicism. January 14, 2009. The Old Tom Friedman. About 9 years ago, I started reading Thomas Friedman’s column. In the New York Times. Anyone who knew me at the time (and for about the next 4 years) probably grew to hate him because I was constantly emailing his columns to people. I was, without doubt, one of his disciples, spreading his word to all who would listen. To this day, I still talk about and recommend his 1991 book,. From Beirut to Jerusalem. The whole logi...

Fight & Write: The Double Life
http://thefightandwrite.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-double-life.html
Tuesday, April 9, 2013. It's been a while. I still have cancer. I am still navigating what I can only describe as parallel lives. There is me, mother, wife, full-time working woman, who is trying to find missing library books and make dentist appointments. Someone who is making plans for summer camp and beach weekends, making mental grocery lists and trying to pair missing socks. Someone who had a hard enough time trying to balance work and home before fitting in devastation. April 9, 2013 at 10:41 PM.
