Two Teen Seamstresses: May 2014

Thursday, May 15, 2014. Vintage Inspired Summer Dress. Just a little blurb here, the dress is not historical, made only for modern wear. But it's still cute and I like it, and thought you might want to see it :). Stats: Around 4 yards of sheer red cotton, bought for a regency dress that never got made. Lined with sturdy white cotton sheets. 6 buttons. Draped. Side zipper. I thought I'd try and join the bandwagon of adding pretty fonts to photos. Yay or nay? What would ya'll think if I started doing this?

First, you'll put on a tight shirt/cami/blah that you can pin fabric to. Like so:. Mark center bust down to waist, neckline, and shoulder seam, (about middle of neckline? Where my thumbs are). Then take the straight edge of another scrap of material, and pin it to the edge of the first piece, on your body. Since there a...

Two Teen Seamstresses: November 2013

Thursday, November 28, 2013. I Love Half Boots (my first attempt at shoe making! I know it seems like I've only got small things going on, but they are still a sewing/reenacting necessity. My last project (just finished today! Was a pair of Regency half boots. They were made of silk, leather, and even linen during the 1800's, but mine are made from faux suede. I got it for free from a friend of Bascha's, and it seemed pretty durable. I'll be wearing them in the Latta house and cabins. Inside of the boot.

Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Chemise a la Reine Pt. II. The difference is that I"m wearing stays. And the sash is a much wider ribbon. Everything else is the same. Oh, and I made a chatelaine. I'm not sure exactly how period correct it is (probably not very much so), but it went with the general idea, looked pretty, and I'm pretty sure the visitors at the event had no idea :P. My new white stays that I made to wear to the ball. Bascha looking lovely as ever :). Chemise a la reine. A long-sleeved silk gown.

Blossoming In Grace: Florida Sunshine
http://blossomingingrace.blogspot.com/2015/02/florida-sunshine.html
Thursday, February 12, 2015. Last week we were in Florida! We had so much fun, especially when we had two close family friends there from NC and TN. This was probably my favorite vacation we've taken. My siblings and I had so much fun surprising one family when we went to see them. Their parents knew we would be coming, but their sweet children did not. Their excitement was priceless and they were so surprised! These two families have a such servants' hearts and they have a deep love for their Savior.

Monday, January 26, 2015. This past Thursday was the 42nd anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion. What are you doing to stop this murder and how are you proclaiming LIFE in your city? We mourned and grieved the loss of over 500 million children who have died in the last 42 years. These children were brutally murdered by abortion. When will we say enough is enough? Would they regret their awful and painful decision? Would they feel suicidal? Would they have relationship troubles?

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. 8226; Simplicity 1587, Version I •. Although I made this dress back in October, we just got around to photographing it yesterday! We meant to take pictures of it when we were on vacation last fall, but it was much too cold not to be bundled up in winter coats constantly! Since then I've made three more renditions of this pattern, the second of which I have posted about here. The others should be up here soon! I just love the bow and the soft pleats at the neckline. I had been hav...

Monday, September 29, 2014. A turban with some curly fringe is my go to regency era hairstyle. It's pretty easy, and doesn't take much work because all you really do is sleep with curlers, take them out and then bam! So to start, part the front of my hair, from right behind me ears all the way across. Then I dampen it (don't soak! Or you will have damp curls by morning! Lol) and add some gel and or mousse. I buy most all of my hair products at Walmart. My bathroom has horrible lighting. I'm sorry! And he...

Thursday, October 31, 2013. This isn't the blog post I thought I'd be writing, nor the post I would like to be writing. But, I figure I might as well be open and honest with ya'll, and post my mess-ups as well as my successes. This is, as I'm sure you have figured out by now, a mess up. :O :P. Tomorrow (yes, we know, possible tornado warning, showers, wind, etc.) we are having a picnic. Bascha and I have met this really neat girl online, via The Sewing Academy. I just thought this dress was beautiful.
