I wish I was still in Mexico - The traveling anthropologist
http://www.thetravelinganthropologist.com/things-little-quiet-around
I wish I was still in Mexico. May 9, 2016. This week I’ve wished we were back in Mexico, I’ve wished it so hard it’s made my heart ache a little. The chemo his mum is undergoing is half-working. It’s not shrinking the tumors as hoped but it’s stopping their growth and therefore prolonging her life. Which is good but not great, and she’s trying to decide for how much longer she wants to keep going with the treatment. But, I still wish I was in Mexico. I miss it so much. We’re going home. Guatemala Archives - The traveling anthropologist

January 21, 2016. Did you know that. Means ancient in Spanish? We didn’t until very recently, but I can’t think of a better name for this gorgeous city. I’m so happy that we enjoyed it because it wasn’t a favorite of ours the last time we visited four years ago, and Guatemala has otherwise been a bit of a disappointment. This is where the locals come to wash their clothes in the morning. Not a morning person.]. The park was often filled with white pigeons! I also had lots of snuggles with the resident ho...
April - The traveling anthropologist

April 30, 2016. I said last month was strange, but it was nothing compared to this one. We left our comfortable bubble of Mexico City (admittedly we were ready to leave after six weeks) and had a whirlwind trip of Las Vegas where we eloped. Then caught up with some friends in Las Vegas before returning to New Zealand to be with Guy’s mum. Coming home was bittersweet. Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe. May 31, 2016. We had some sweet friends from Wellington come and spend a weekend with us at Waipu. My mum and I went for a hike in the rain at Piha. I love discovering new parts of Auckland! These little ‘rams horns’ are my favourite shells! I got a job this week – it’s just temping in an office for a few weeks but I’m actually looking forward to it. Earning some money, getting out of the house, having some structure to my days – all the things I hate to love but yet I do. This is quite a strange program...

Driving the Skeleton Coast - Hecktic Travels
http://www.hecktictravels.com/skeleton-coast-namibia
Work With Hecktic Travels. Salt Roads and Skeletons. Words by Dalene Heck / Photography by Pete and Dalene Heck. The coastal city of Swakopmund sits on a split landscape. To the south, the bright orange dunes of the Namib desert. To the north, the eerie blank canvas of the Skeleton Coast. The Land God Made in Anger. The Gates of Hell. Our attraction was immediate and we wanted to see as much of it as we could. While a very large portion of it is closed off and only accessible by air, the entrance to ...
Mr and Mrs Globe Trot: La Paz, Bolivia | Stolen Camera + Passports

La Paz, Bolivia Stolen Camera Passports. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Coming back to La Paz wasn't as bright and happy as the first time. When Zhanna and I had a dance party in the taxi while driving into the city, falling in love with it before we ever stepped out of the the car. The second time we drove into La Paz, after our Southwestern Bolivian expedition. We got none of those things. The following was our series of events to replace our passports:. We’re having a baby! July 3, 2016. It feels SO GOOD to finally be able to say this! We’ve been keeping our lips sealed for the past 9 weeks – which believe me feels like an absolute lifetime when you’re excited! Keeping it from friends and family was the hardest! I mean, do they know me at all? Haha And in June I made up an illness and said I was taking antibiotics. It was stressful! It’s still too early to tell, but we can’t decide whether we want to find out or not. I want to wait till ...I haven’...
