My Utmost • May 17. I remember processing with a friend years ago the whole concept of the ascension of Jesus. Something about it just seemed not quite right. What was it? Was it that it seemed so other-worldly? So different from any experience we might have? But on further reflection, that's not the "bind". I've gone fishing, but I haven't calmed a storm, or any of the other miracles Jesus did, and yet they don't bother me. I'll never leave you or forsake you;. You will never be alone;. What a good article. Thanks, Beth B and Brad B (no relation) for linking to this wonderful article. And for getting my attention with this quote:. But a lot of times when the church has obeyed faithfully, we've only received hardship—violence that seems to make things worse for victim and perpetrator alike.". Saturday, January 09, 2010. My Utmost - May 31. My favorite line from today's reading:. God came as a baby, giving and entrusting Himself to me. He expects my personal life to be a “Bethlehem.”. A great turn of phrase. Bethlehem was the place into which God the Son was born. It is the place where His presence on earth was first revealed, and from which He moved, into other places, living a life that would grow in influence and extend God's gradce, love, healing, blessing and forgiveness to all. Thoughts at the Moment. A way to remember the fleeting. Wednesday, November 29, 2006. The Best Student Ever.Wasn't Me. The first semester of my debut as a Master's student wasn't quite what I expected. After logging into 'Web Advisor' and clicking on 'My Grades' my heart sank deep into the ocean of sadness. All I wanted to see was 3 Eiffel Tower shaped letters and only one stamped the screen. I leaned back. I leaned way back in my chair and shook my fists at the heavens screaming. Thoughts at the Moment. A way to remember the fleeting. Wednesday, September 21, 2005. Is moral living relative? Or is there a book, an enormous red book with gold letters stamped on the cover, that lines out every scenario one might amble up against? I am finding my life is becoming more unmoral by my childhood standards. as i grow i am becoming more a relativist, basing my actions on scripture, feelings, and the past. Thoughts at the Moment. A way to remember the fleeting. Friday, November 18, 2005. Sunday evening I drove my wife's black Sunfire chasing the burning ball of light into the horizon. It was getting warmer and I was feeling the relief of a weekend laced with introspection coming to an end. My Grandfather, James Morrison Jr, was buried. The body placed in the ground while he, pained no more, was seeing Jesus. Posted by jay baehr @ 11/18/2005. Thursday, November 10, 2005. Worship will be the perfect avenue.
