Hibernaatiopesäke: Tulossa on / yes, it is coming
http://hibernaatio.blogspot.com/2015/07/tulossa-on-yes-it-is-coming.html
Hibernointi on muun muassa sitä, kun perhoset vetäytyvät hyvin nautitun sokeri-punaviiniaterian jälkeen pesään levolle. Meidän pesämme on meidän kotimme, jossa harrastetaan elämää. Niin, ja keskiaikaa: pukuompelua, kutomista, veistämistä, värjäämistä. This is a blog with long name. Some call it Hibis. It is about life and historical handcraft, like weaving, carwing, sewing and dyeing. Torstai 23. heinäkuuta 2015. Tulossa on / yes, it is coming. The most interresting task this summer was making a nalbindin...

Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Granny squares - testing a new pattern. Last night I found this exciting granny square pattern. I'm sorry it's only in Swedish) and I just had to try it. Here is the result! And when on the subject, do you have any favourite granny square versions? I'd love to see more! Do you know of any that fits together (in size) with the traditional (at least, the one I've heard is the most traditional here! You can see them in the second pic.) granny square? Links to this post. No sewin...

Handicraft by Agis: November 2011
http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 7, 2011. My ancestry (old photographs.). A new show is airing on tv here in Sweden, in which a bunch of americans rediscover their Swedish ancestry. Watching the show ("Allt för Sverige", which by the way is great! Has brought up thoughts about my family history, and I've been looking a lot at old pictures from the early 20th century. I find it interesting in so many levels! And lived with his family in Uppsala. I am also a bit fascinated by what is going on in the background of the pict...

Handicraft by Agis: Homemade yoghurt!
http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2012/12/homemade-yoghurt.html
Friday, December 7, 2012. As I grew up I knew that yoghurt somehow came from milk. Still, I had gotten the impression that one couldn't make yoghurt at home, because. well. just because! This notion stayed with me until just a few weeks ago, when I stumbled upon a recipe for homemade yoghurt. At first I thought "wow, this must be for those people who raise cows! But looking closer I finally understood that no, this was something ordinary people could do in an ordinary kitchen using ordinary milk. Actuall...

Handicraft by Agis: Making perfume
http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2012/11/making-perfume.html
Thursday, November 29, 2012. This morning the landscape outside my window had turned crispy white, beautiful. Moving on. It's perfume making time! I am out of perfume. Empty bottle, nothing left. And at the moment I can't really go spend lots of money on new perfume (it's disgustingly expensive, isn't it? But though I've moved out from the city and turned into a lantis (the swedish equivalent of a 'hillbilly') I'm trying not to become a complete. Slob, and thus I still wanted new perfume. As I said, I ma...

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Thursday, May 7, 2015. And another on modern undies. To collect images and helpful links, rather than overburdening this page. 1 It appears that "lifted and separated" was the the ideal boob shape for most of the period I am interested in. This really cannot be accomplished with a fitted gown*, which gives you more of a mono-boob shape. Furthermore there is plenty of textual evidence. For breast-shaping garments (and surgery!
