Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving: Random Brocaded bands

http://thewarpfactor.blogspot.com/2013/09/random-brocaded-bands.html

Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving. Sunday, September 22, 2013. Hi folks, long time no post, I've been having a bit of upheaval in my professional life this year and have been pouring a lot of time into my professional development rather than weaving. I've just started a new job and have a lot to learn there but hopefully things will start to settle down soon. Anyway, I didn't stop weaving entirely. Here are some photos of some bands I've woven in the last 6 months. September 23, 2013 at 10:48 AM.

Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving: June 2012

http://thewarpfactor.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving. Sunday, June 24, 2012. Chasuble of St Wolfgang Bird. Anyway, here's another figure from the Chasuble of St Wolfgang band. It's actually the 3rd one I wove; the second one doesn't look so great so I'm going to see how it comes out the second time through before posting it. But this bird looks pretty much like I was hoping. Here's the link. To the photo of the original on Kopert. Not sure why this bird is holding a boot. Links to this post. Labels: 3/1 broken twill.

Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving: A Dead End on Durham Warp Transposition

http://thewarpfactor.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-dead-end-on-durham-warp-transposition.html

Adventures in Historical Tabletweaving. Sunday, March 2, 2014. A Dead End on Durham Warp Transposition. A particularly intriguing section in Collingwood (page 278 in the 2002 edition) concerns warp transposition (swapping the positions of tablets so their warp threads completely cross over). It reads:. Henshall, 1964 is. Five Tablet Woven Seal Tags' in Archaeological Journal. Braid in double-faced plain weave with geometric pattern. Thora Sharptooth has written. Brocaded band in plain tablet weave. Hibernaatiopesäke: Tulossa on / yes, it is coming

http://hibernaatio.blogspot.com/2015/07/tulossa-on-yes-it-is-coming.html

Hibernointi on muun muassa sitä, kun perhoset vetäytyvät hyvin nautitun sokeri-punaviiniaterian jälkeen pesään levolle. Meidän pesämme on meidän kotimme, jossa harrastetaan elämää. Niin, ja keskiaikaa: pukuompelua, kutomista, veistämistä, värjäämistä. This is a blog with long name. Some call it Hibis. It is about life and historical handcraft, like weaving, carwing, sewing and dyeing. Torstai 23. heinäkuuta 2015. Tulossa on / yes, it is coming. Handicraft by Agis: September 2012

http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Granny squares - testing a new pattern. Last night I found this exciting granny square pattern. I'm sorry it's only in Swedish) and I just had to try it. Here is the result! And when on the subject, do you have any favourite granny square versions? I'd love to see more! Do you know of any that fits together (in size) with the traditional (at least, the one I've heard is the most traditional here! You can see them in the second pic.) granny square? Handicraft by Agis: November 2011

http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 7, 2011. My ancestry (old photographs.). A new show is airing on tv here in Sweden, in which a bunch of americans rediscover their Swedish ancestry. Watching the show ("Allt för Sverige", which by the way is great! Has brought up thoughts about my family history, and I've been looking a lot at old pictures from the early 20th century. I find it interesting in so many levels! And lived with his family in Uppsala. I am also a bit fascinated by what is going on in the background of the pict...

Handicraft by Agis: Homemade yoghurt!

http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2012/12/homemade-yoghurt.html

Friday, December 7, 2012. As I grew up I knew that yoghurt somehow came from milk. Still, I had gotten the impression that one couldn't make yoghurt at home, because. well. just because! This notion stayed with me until just a few weeks ago, when I stumbled upon a recipe for homemade yoghurt. At first I thought "wow, this must be for those people who raise cows! But looking closer I finally understood that no, this was something ordinary people could do in an ordinary kitchen using ordinary milk. Actuall...

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Making a dress form (duct tape). Some time ago I came across something very inspiring. Some blogger (I'm sorry, I don't remember the blog adress or the name of the blogger! Had created a dress form out of duct tape, instead of buying a "real" and expensive one. Now finally I have been able to make my own (with the help of my darling husband, Marcus! And I am happy to show it to you all, and hope to inspire others to try it too! My very own dress form! Handicraft by Agis: Making perfume

http://agiscraft.blogspot.com/2012/11/making-perfume.html

Thursday, November 29, 2012. This morning the landscape outside my window had turned crispy white, beautiful. Moving on. It's perfume making time! I am out of perfume. Empty bottle, nothing left. And at the moment I can't really go spend lots of money on new perfume (it's disgustingly expensive, isn't it? But though I've moved out from the city and turned into a lantis (the swedish equivalent of a 'hillbilly') I'm trying not to become a complete. Slob, and thus I still wanted new perfume. As I said, I ma...

Medieval Threads: Breast Bag thoughts

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Thursday, May 7, 2015. And another on modern undies. To collect images and helpful links, rather than overburdening this page. 1 It appears that "lifted and separated" was the the ideal boob shape for most of the period I am interested in. This really cannot be accomplished with a fitted gown*, which gives you more of a mono-boob shape. Furthermore there is plenty of textual evidence. For breast-shaping garments (and surgery!
