OkI'm settled in on this cold raining typical November evening with Thievery Corporation droning in the background, a blazing fire in the stove and a Ranger IPA in the cradle. What could be better? but alas, I digress: January 2014

But alas, I digress. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Sewing project: portfolio case. Here are my fabrics. I had the slate blue and white stripe from the sewing expo last year. The yellow is a home decor fabric and the black is classic twill bottom weight. I cut the fabric I wanted for the outside pocket/trim one inch wider than 1/2 of the first rectangle. Next I cut two rectangles of the interior fabric the same size as the first rectangle. Now I've finished off the edge of what will be the front pocket.

But alas, I digress. Monday, April 6, 2015. At long last, I have some great pictures of my Artemisia costume! Many many thanks to Terry Fogerson for the pictures. Danger lurking in the shadows. We found a little serpent friend while taking pictures! Bonus: Here's a really silly picture! It was windy so there are probably a hundred pictures of me spitting hair out of my mouth. But I thought this one was really funny. Labels: 300:Rise of an Empire. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

But alas, I digress. Monday, June 23, 2014. Sweet 16th: Almond cake with pear. I made a new recipe this week! To make this you'll need:. 4 Tablespoons of butter (1/2 a stick) at room temp. 1/4 cup vegetable shortening. 1/3 cup almond paste. 1/2 Tablespoon baking powder. 2 eggs at room temp. 1 1/2 cup flour. 1/2 cup milk (I used almond milk). A pinch of cinnamon. 1 pear (I used a Tosca, cause that's what I had). Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each. Lastly, stir in a pinch of cinnamon. Now pop t...

But alas, I digress. Friday, October 10, 2014. And I mean that in the actual physical pumpkins from a pumpkin patch sort of way. Not in the pumpkin flavored everything sort of way. Fortunately I've managed not to over-dose on pumpkin flavoring yet this fall so it's still ok in my book at least. Anyways, we went to the pumpkin patch today and brought home some lovely squashes. They get to be whole for a while as we figure out what exactly we're going to carve on them. Here. That's all for now.

But alas, I digress. Friday, November 15, 2013. Sweet 16th: not happening this month. As stated in the title, I will not be posting a sweet tomorrow for the 16th. Because, well, I'm writing personal statements for grad applications. I have to say, personal statements are the hardest thing to write. Someone accept me at a university and give me a research paper! Anyways, later in the month I'm planning on making bacon caramel corn, so there's that to look forward to. Monday, November 11, 2013.

I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere on this show now. Looking forward to getting the materials for making the ever exciting Knight of Mirrors! More on that when I start on it. Glorious mess unloaded from the car. All hung up in a much too small area, but it's what I've got. And here she is all cyber-ified.

But alas, I digress. Thursday, March 5, 2015. I've been busy working away on my costume for Emerald City Comic Con which is quickly approaching, but I figured I could take a moment and share some progress with you. Last time I put up some pictures of my swords in progress (they are still in progress) but today I have some pictures of the actual costume! So, here we go:. Patterning for the back spikes. Spikes coated in worbla thermoplastic. Marking the holes for the rivets in the back piece.

But alas, I digress. Friday, March 27, 2015. Craft with all the things! I thought this was entertaining, so here's a little mini post before I show you costume pictures! This is a list of all of the stuff I used to make Artemisia, in no particular order. Eva foam floor mat. I'm probably missing some things in both categories but that's a quick list! And a not very good picture of everything set out. Monday, March 23, 2015. Emerald City Comicon is this weekend! Thursday, March 5, 2015. So, here we go:.

The Well Plate | eat well, live simply, one plate at a time…

Eat well, live simply, one plate at a time…. Hearty Pork and Vegetable Stew. March 7, 2012 by thewellplate. This recipe was a spontaneous decision on my part to use up the overabundance of produce in my possession. Add to that the chill to the air in the Pacific Northwest (despite the rare occurence of sun recently) – and you have a warming, healthy stew that will feed your entire family (or yourself leftovers for the week). Enjoy! 1 yellow onion, diced. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 7 c chicken broth. Add in...
