Jim took the girls camping about 5 years ago and I think that is the last time our tent was used. This weekend our friend Ron celebrated his 60th birthday. He had reserved a group campsite up at Lost Lake and invited his friends to join him. Since was going to be in the 100's in Portland this weekend, the cooler temps up on Mt. Hood were very appealing! Fortunately Jim remembered how to set up our tent.

The Wilkes' Week Blog. Saturday, August 10, 2013. Party #1 of the Day - Bridal Shower. This was a party filled week. I hosted two parties at our house on Saturday. Everyone always tells me how crazy I am but I love it! We had traditional tea party food - tea sandwiches, scones, lemon curd, devonshire cream,shortbread, lemon bars as well as chocolate dipped strawberries and a yummy broccoli/pasta salad. The Wilkes' Week Blog. Saturday, May 3, 2014. On Saturday we met for a late lunch/early dinner at the Masa Tortilla Bar in Lindon. It is just like the Tortilla Bar in Orem which is one of our favorite places. They are usually closed during this time but they agreed to stay open for us and prepared a delicious meal for us. It was fun having the restaurant to ourselves. We did it early so that Cali could join us to eat since she had to be to school by 5:00 pm. Cali's good friend Brittney was there too.

The Wilkes' Week Blog. Tuesday, April 8, 2014. San Diego Day Three. The weather warmed up a bit (70 degrees) for our third day and I even got a little sunburned. We started the beautiful day with a trip to the Farmer's Market in Little Italy. We had street tacos for breakfast! Tessa and I tried not to freak out too much when we saw this sign. I heard someone say that since it had been a mild winter and not much rain that the rattlesnakes were out early this year - nice! I could totally get use to this!

The Wilkes' Week Blog. Monday, July 20, 2015. This was one of the few birthdays that Tessa hasn't been home for - I think maybe only the second. She is working as an intern in NYC as part of her PR program. After our week at the beach, Tessa, Cali and Hannah flew out to NYC and Kat Matthews met them there. They had an amazing time and it was fun that they were able to be there on Tessa's birthday to celebrate with her. They had a fun picnic/party in Central Park to celebrate. Newsomes 50s Sock Hop.

Oriental Chicken Pasta Salad. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar. 2 Tbsp. brown sugar. 1 tsp grated ginger root. 2 Tbsp. sesame seed oil. 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds. 2 drops tabasco sauce. 1/4 cup vegetable oil. Mix together and set aside. 1 lb angel hair pasta, cooked al dente. 10 ounce petite peas, thawed. 1/4 pound snow peas.
