But I'm not going to write about that because that doesn't interest you (and all is well in the land of Lucas anyway - for now). All day Thursday we dutifully tested our air conditioners, which thankfully passed and will get no further column space. Late Friday afternoon I eventually made it to Venice, found...

The Worldly Adventures Of Lucas: April 2008

http://www.theworldlyadventuresoflucas.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

The Worldly Adventures Of Lucas. And good times were had by all. Wednesday, 16 April 2008. Gig - Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip. On Monday night (after a heavy wekeend) I went to a gig at Koko with Andrew. Dan, Dan, Val, Bill and Tony's Polish friend whose name escapes me. The headliners were Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, a politically minded electronic spoken word/rap duo from east London. Andrew, Tony and I had caught them another time opening for Billy Bragg. An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Hello all. So we have left Toronto. No more Canada for us for a while. All we saw was Ontario and a little of Montreal, but we loved it, and Toronto was really good to us. I am now a Blue Jays / Raptors fan, which I hear makes for promising starts of seasons, but disappointing finishes. Little Havana in Miami. View from the front of our place in Miami Beach. An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Thursday, April 09, 2009. USA: Big Trees, Deserts and Ocean. So Steph and I got hold of a car for a couple of weeks and over Spring Break went on a little road trip. The plan was to get to the Grand Canyon, but due the massiveness of this country it just wasn't feasible. We ended up doing some camping at two national parks: Sequoia National Park and Joshua Tree National Park. Highway in the Mojave. We camped nex...

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Thursday, December 11, 2008. So after Allepey we headed up into the mountains to Munnar. It was a nice little town surrounded by thousands of hectares of TATA Tea Plantations. We spent a few nights here walking around, watching people pick tea, drinking tea, smelling tea leaves and generally enjoying the cooler tea atmosphere. Tea Pickers and lots of Tea. So, contrary to what others. Posted by Tony Hawke. Contra...

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Sunday, October 26, 2008. India: MONKEYS and TIGERS! So we started it and it all turned out for the best! It was hard work but super amazing. A view very near the glacier (the actual glacier wasn't so impressive). It was mostly a donkey trail used to supply the villages in the valleys on the way so was easy to navigate and we were able to get meals and beds in guest houses all the way along. The perfect trek.

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. So I am now at home. and have been here about a month. Home is indeed as sweet as they say it is and I am loving being out here on the farm with my family. Mums cooking is still the best ever and Cookie Time. S are still super tasty. So from India we popped into Singapore and saw Rowan. For a few days, sneaked up to Malaysia for a little peak and spent a small amount of time with Dave.

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Thursday, May 29, 2008. I should stop following New Zealand sports teams when they come to Europe. My trip to Paris didn't help the All Blacks cause at the Rugby World Cup, and I don't think I helped the Black Caps in the test against England in the Cricket. Oh well, I had fun. The weekend just passed Andy. I spent the day after the cricket looking forward to another curry on the Curry Mile. The street festival ...

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Monday, August 02, 2010. So over the Pyranees we went into France. There wasnt even a sign to indicate the border, we only knew for sure we were in France when people started greeting us with Bonjour rather than ola. The Pyranees and Spain well behind us. The chaos before the race. The front line of the Tour de France. Farms, trees and the occasional pretty town. thats rural France. So we hit St Emilion. whi...

An eclectic collection of thoughts, stories and ideas - come for the wit, stay for the charm. Sunday, March 14, 2010. Canada: Toronto, Haliburton Highlands. Our street with a little bit of snow. Looking towards downtown from China Town. Toronto Raptors game. I was going to be a fan, until I went to one game where they just didn't want to win. it was embarrassing. And they love it too which was nice. We got to drive the sleds, yelling commands at the dogs and everything. I'm standing on a lake! Philadelph...

The Worldly Investor

Thursday, July 31, 2008. The Incredibly Clumsy Hands of Government. Great The Fed is riding to the rescue of the banking sector once again. This is not the first time we've seen this. The Fed helped pull out Bear Stearns from the jaws of bankruptcy a couple of months ago. And now it is providing the investment banks with more emergency cash and loans. Do these banks deserve the largesse of the government? They've been incredibly reckless in how they've managed risk and generated past revenues. Has the oi...
