Things I Like: June 2015

http://thingsilike08.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Too many on-line reviewers focus on the negative. All they do is complain about stuff they don't like. This blog is about the things I do like. Monday, June 15, 2015. By Jacques Tardi, adapting a novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette. I am always up for a Jacques Tardi graphic novel, and got a lot of enjoyment out of reading West Coast Blues. The translation of his book adapting the novel Le Petit Bleu de la Côte Ouest. Which was originally released in 1976. It's not paranoia, though, when you're right. Ge...

Too many on-line reviewers focus on the negative. All they do is complain about stuff they don't like. This blog is about the things I do like. Monday, July 13, 2015. Written by James Tynion IV. Art by Eryk Donovan. James Tynion IV is probably best known for his Batman work, supporting Scott Snyder since the New 52 relaunch in a number of ways, but he is also building a name and following for himself with his excellent body of work being published by Boom! This is why I decided to give Memetic. Brian K&#...

Too many on-line reviewers focus on the negative. All they do is complain about stuff they don't like. This blog is about the things I do like. Thursday, August 27, 2015. Written by Matt Pizzolo. Art by Amancay Nahuelpan. As much as writer Matt Pizzolo takes this issue to set up his world, he also leaves a lot to be explained later. We know that there is some intrigue surrounding Serah's brother, and we see that she has effectively taken over a section of Detroit that had been abandoned, and is now p...

Written by Mike Raicht, Zach Howard, and Austin Harrison. Art by Zach Howard. I'd heard some good things about Wild Blue Yonder. A science fiction series from IDW, and jumped at the chance to pick up a full set recently. This is a very good sci-fi adventure comic for fans of Mad Max. There's a fair amount of sticking t...

LizaWasHere's product review blog! Thanks, Sprout Band of Bloggers! I never did say THANK YOU to PBS Sprout for how much fun we had at the Wiggles. We had a BLAST. Noah and Josie were both mesmerized, barely moving so much as their heads during the show. Jill, Grandma, and I were impressed by the high energy level of all of the performers, and the unbelievable acrobatic skills of - among others - a former member of the Russian Olympic Gymnastics team. On the whole, great show. You May Be A Winner. Maybe ...

I've been seeing a few articles about this and it got me thinking. My hubby used to work in an office of mostly women. Often he would come home complaining of how uncomfortable he felt when he had conversations with some of them. With very low cut tops and lots of cleavage showing he just wasn't sure where to look. (! Oddly enough his office had a dress code about jeans but none about cleavage coverage. Am I a prude to think that the girls should be a little more covered? I enjoyed reading the latest.

About Today

Monday, 28 July 2014. I've been feeling a little helpless when reading stories of what is happening to civilians, many incredibly young, in Gaza at this very moment. In an effort to help in some, small, way I'm. With all profits going to help the British Red Cross' bring medical aid to those in need. The conflict is complicated and, for many of us, difficult to attach ourselves to but, I think, this piece from Jon Snow fully explains why we should be paying attention. Monday, 14 July 2014.
