Mark Nelson does not believe in the hype about multi-cores. And he is right with several of his arguments. The world is not going to end if we cannot write our applications to allow for concurrency, that’s for sure. Since I am working on parallel machines all day, it is easy to become a little […]. A Blog on Parallel Programming and Concurrency by Michael Suess. Choice Overload and Parallel Programming. And a follow up called Is anyone dumb enough to think yet another parallel language will solve our problems? While I think Tim raises some very valid points, I still believe his conclusions are in need of some more discussion! 🙂 This post also includes a call to action at the bottom, so be sure to read it until the end! The post must fit in here. Just read a couple of my posts in the past and y...

A Blog on Parallel Programming and Concurrency by Michael Suess. Archive for the 'Interviews' Category. An Interview with Dr. Jay Hoeflinger about Automatic Parallelization. When I started my PhD.-thesis a couple of years ago, I took some time to look at auto-parallelizing compilers and research. After all, I wanted to work on making parallel programming easier, and the best way to do that would surely be to let compilers do all the work. Unfortunately, the field appeared to be […]. A Blog on Parallel Programming and Concurrency by Michael Suess. Is the Multi-Core Revolution a Hype? Mark Nelson does not believe in the hype about multi-cores. And he is right with several of his arguments. The world is not going to end if we cannot write our applications to allow for concurrency, that’s for sure. Since I am working on parallel machines all day, it is easy to become a little disconnected with. I suspect not, but only time will tell. Just as an example, using the spiffy Sysinternals Pro...

A Blog on Parallel Programming and Concurrency by Michael Suess. What Makes Parallel Programming Hard? Anwar Ghuloum has posted his opinion about What Makes Parallel Programming Hard. At the Intel Research Blogs. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself, as a good host of course I need to let the guest speak first. Here are Anwar’s reasons in a nutshell:. Using Modern Programming Methods. There are a number of steps involved in creating a parallel algorithm (e.g. And taking care of. Issues). None of t...

Probability Trader: Commodity model

http://probtrader.blogspot.com/2008/01/commodity-model.html

Markets, trading systems and parallel computing. Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Today I opened the first position in the new COM model, a ranking system based on commodities stocks that will replace HFCF in the Demo portfolio. I made this change based on the 6 months GSG momentum. And the recent small cap underperformance. The 2008 Demo portfolio will thus be composed of NH, LKS, PCF, COM (5 positions each) and SHORT (10 positions). I might add a large-cap model going forward. Bill Ackman Open Source Research.

Reconfigurable Computing: Parallel Programming is Easy: Making a Framework is Hard

http://fpgacomputing.blogspot.com/2008/09/parallel-programming-is-easy-making.html

This blog is a notebook of my thoughts on parallel programming and accelerated computing. The instruction stream is deprecated: parallel programming is a spreadsheet. Thursday, September 04, 2008. Parallel Programming is Easy: Making a Framework is Hard. An HPCwire article titled " Compilers and More: Parallel Programming Made Easy? Presents a gloomy outlook for parallel programming:. While everyone else is still in a horse-race, we're building hybrid engines. So I strongly disagree with the premise that...

Reconfigurable Computing: More versus Faster

http://fpgacomputing.blogspot.com/2008/12/more-versus-faster.html

This blog is a notebook of my thoughts on parallel programming and accelerated computing. The instruction stream is deprecated: parallel programming is a spreadsheet. Friday, December 05, 2008. Points to an IEEE Spectrum article title "Multicore Is Bad News". Which discusses the bottleneck associated with getting data from memory into the many cores of a multicore processor. Even without increasing the rate of dataflow through the processor, we can drastically improve power-performance by slowing down ou...

Probability Trader: IT spending on market data infrastructures to reach USD 7.8B by the end of 2010

http://probtrader.blogspot.com/2008/03/it-spending-on-market-data.html

Markets, trading systems and parallel computing. Thursday, March 6, 2008. IT spending on market data infrastructures to reach USD 7.8B by the end of 2010. According to this report. Trading systems growth is set to continue at around 1B a year for the next 3 years. Among the factors challenging vendors, Aite mentions markets fragmentation and a further increase in data volume, which in most cases is already at a critical level for most of today's OM/ES platforms (believe me, I know something about it):.

http://diegodm.blogspot.com/2007/06/instalando-xubuntu.html

Sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop.

A Blog on Parallel Programming and Concurrency by Michael Suess. November 29, 2007. Two Job Openings At The Best Place To Work In Germany! Now this is just typical. Last week I have finally gotten rid of my job board, because nobody was using it. Just a week later, my advisor asks me, where it went, because she would like to announce two job openings. Oh well. Thinking Park - The Revolution Is Now

BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY . A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything . I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against . In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful,. Must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function,. Art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.".
