On the morning Emma was scheduled to be born, we stayed in bed, wide awake with excitement and the knowledge that after we kicked off the covers and started the day, things would never be the same. We found a karaoke channel on the cable box, and laughed our way through earnest renditions of power ballads. We made jokes and laughed. It’s one of my favorite memories.
