We have been on a cereal strike for the last month or so. I am tired of paying too high of prices for boxes of over-processed cereals that are full of things we try not to eat otherwise and I am tired of everyone wanting four bowls, to only be hungry an hour later–at least that’s how it seems. It’s official. Meatloaf is on it’s way out in this house. We aren’t big meat eaters anyway, so it’s not a big loss. We have found a perfect replacement that is approved by all seven of us! I toyed around with the idea of making a lentil loaf for a few months now and never got around to it, mostly because I thought it would take too long to make. Not sure why I ever thought that because it was beyond simple. This is a great recipe to alter to your tastes. You don’t like nuts? Want to add some maple syrup?

A couple nights ago, while catching up on some chatting with a friend, I officially became involved in a new project. For fun. By choice. An adult thing. Ahhhh, music to my ears. A photographer friend, Roxanne Bappe. With a day to put the January piece together, I grabbed her images and set pen to paper. This, my friends, is what we came up with. When I cross paths with a barren house, my mind wanders. In an instant, I ingest the sight. A desolate plot of land yearns for the touch of a caregiver’s hand.
