This Moment in France: Gratitude

http://thismomentinfrance.blogspot.com/2010/02/gratitude.html

This Moment in France. Chronicles of Cultivating Mindfulness in the Midst of Cultural Confusion. Monday, February 1, 2010. I haven't been sleeping well lately, perhaps because of the pregnancy, but most likely because of a long-standing difficulty turning off my brain at night. Now matter how tired I am when I get into bed, the minute my head hits the pillow, it's like a switch gets turned on that I just can't turn back off. So when the thoughts started to come the other night, I focused instead on my bo...

This Moment in France. Chronicles of Cultivating Mindfulness in the Midst of Cultural Confusion. Thursday, August 27, 2009. La Maison de l'Harmonie. It was actually much harder than I thought to blog while I was on vacation, so now that I'm back home I'm playing catch up on the past few weeks. The next few posts will chronicle the last part of my trip, starting with my weeklong retreat in the French countryside at a lovely place called. Maison de l'Harmonie (. And the monastic community of Plum Village.

This Moment in France: Coming Back to Mindfulness

http://thismomentinfrance.blogspot.com/2010/06/coming-back-to-mindfulness.html

This Moment in France. Chronicles of Cultivating Mindfulness in the Midst of Cultural Confusion. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Coming Back to Mindfulness. I haven't written in a long while, wrapped up in my little pregnancy bubble, focused on acquiring information and just gestating, as it were. I also had the idea that I would start another blog just about pregnancy and parenting issues, since they seemed off-topic for the mindfulness blog I intended this to be. I haven't gotten very far yet, and so far it see...

This Moment in France: October 2009

http://thismomentinfrance.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

This Moment in France. Chronicles of Cultivating Mindfulness in the Midst of Cultural Confusion. Saturday, October 24, 2009. This is how it is. It's been over a month since I've written, despite my goal of posting once a week. But while my first impulse is to berate myself for being a slacker, I'm trying to accept that life gets in the way of my best intentions sometimes. The extra hours looked good on paper, but. I pretty quickly hit a wall as to how much I could actually teach before exhaustion set in.

Electricity and Magnetism: January 2009

This blog primarily exists to shamelessly promote my children, Jonah (AKA Monkey) and Ava (AKA Little Girl). Sigh My little boy is growing up. I figured that would be the end of it - until naptime today, when he again wanted to nap in the BBB. This time, Matt read his stories and tucked him in, and thirty minutes later, all was quiet. G tucked in for the night in his BBB. Wish us luck! Her belly button is all healed, which means her first real bath will follow shortly! What we've been up to. Next one cam...

This blog primarily exists to shamelessly promote my children, Jonah (AKA Monkey) and Ava (AKA Little Girl). Silly Shakespeare Titles - Continued. I decided to throw everything I think about sleep out the window and make some BIG changes right at the time when Ava's sleep would be predicted to get even worse – the dreaded four-month. Old sleep regression. Jonah hit this one hard. After a month of sleeping relatively well, when he hit four months old (at right: Jonah at 4.5 months). Take turns taking naps!

This blog primarily exists to shamelessly promote my children, Jonah (AKA Monkey) and Ava (AKA Little Girl). Even though I have a few other thoughts percolating in my mind (gender identity and baby clothes, trip to Colorado, why I'm becoming an accountant), I decided to write a quick kid update. I realized that I've been trying to use the blog to track Ava's milestones, since I don't have a baby book for her, and I could miss a few if I don't get them in here pronto! She's usually sitting up. Subscribe t...

This blog primarily exists to shamelessly promote my children, Jonah (AKA Monkey) and Ava (AKA Little Girl). In which I wax philosophical about schooling. Certainly there are things Jonah could stand to work on. He's not so into art. (That may be my fault. I'm not so into (making) art.) As a consequence, his writing skills are not so great (even for an almost five-year-old) and he's not so keen on working on them. But What if he should be in a private school? What if we should push him more? Sling and Sw...

As Jonah takes off down the hall). Me: Where are you going? Jonah: I'm gong to Chinatown! I put on a non-maternity shirt that I probably haven't worn since June. Jonah: Did you get a new shirt? Friday, September 21, 2007. Wow, what a setback! We started this remodeling project that was supposed to take about 3 months, and now here it is SEVEN months later and we're just now wrapping it up. It proved to be a huge distraction on our lives! And in the midst of it all, I was dealing with a serious back problem with agonizing pain throughout it all! I just had back surgery last week, and am recovering from that now. SOON, I'll get this idea of thismoment.org going again! I am sorry for the delays!
