Diary of an ER Nurse. Stories of a small town emergency room, through the eyes of one nurse. Lessons and My Story. July 30, 2015. I’m into my third week as an ED nurse. I have been a nurse for 10 years, however this is my first experience in the ED. I can honestly say I feel, in many ways, like a brand new nurse again. The ED is entirely different than floor nursing! The priority is different, the mindset, pace, focus, teamwork, is all very different. I am learning more things than I can even mention.

ER nurse and resident knitwit. No longer a new grad. So hey, yesterday marked my 1 year anniversary of being hired in the ER, my first job out of nursing school. Does this means I am no longer a new grad? Do no harm. I have managed this year not to make any of my patients conditions worse, mostly I am able to help them and send them on their way feeling better than when they came in. I never realized how much teaching goes on in the nursing role and I am getting much more comfortable at it. I’m com...

This Nurse Cooks | food. photos. stories

Food photos. stories. Quick meals – soft scrambled egg sandwich. July 5, 2014. As I have previously said, I love breakfast. I also have an unhealthy obsession with eggs. If you see my cart on a regular shopping day, eggs would always be present even if I still have a couple dozens at home. I know all about the cholesterol and fat content of eggs but they’re so effin’ delicious I just can’t let the obsession go. This is a must try, easy and no special tools necessary. Soft scrambled egg sandwich. And it&#...

Kids, knitting, nursing and my life. Wednesday, May 14, 2014. The end of our trip. We finally saw the last patients and it was time to pack everything up. The Helps International team that stays here in Guatemala is responsible for packing up the big equipment. Beds, OR tables, anesthesia machines, shelving all has to be broken down, packed and stored for the next mission. All of our supplies are packed into plastic bins and inventoried so we know what we need for next time. We headed to a couple of litt...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Spreading the Love of Health and Fitness One Run at a Time. My wedding is over- it was amazing, don’t get me wrong, but consumed my life to the nth degree and now I am so happy to say that I no longer need to cut paper and tie bows in every waking moment so I can officially get back on track with documenting my fitness journey! And what better way, than to do that on my one year runniversary :). So just wanted to say I’m back!

This Nursing Journey

Amber, BSN, RN. February 4, 2015. I took the NCLEX on Monday! Using the quick results option (you can pay Pearson Vue $7.95 48 hours after the test in order to get your test results) I found out this morning that I passed. I passed the NCLEX in 45 minutes with 75 questions. I contribute this to the great education I received at TWU, and the amazing Kaplan class I took after graduation to help prep me for the licensing exam. I’m so freaking excited right now! I AM A NURSE! Kaplan NCLEX Prep Course Review.
