Whatever pops into my thoughts.quilting, shelties, gardening, books, travel. Monday, July 13, 2015. Our quilt history study group, aka Liberty Ladies, had the opportunity to tour the elegant Paine Art Center. In Oshkosh last Thursday. The icing on the cake though was the special exhibit of 36 vintage garments from the PBS series, Downton Abbey - of which I, like many of you, am a devoted fan. The gardens were lovely and this fascinating structure is called a kaleidoscope garden. Focus on Applique, which ...

Whatever pops into my thoughts.quilting, shelties, gardening, books, travel. Cherry Tree quilt progress. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The Keeper of the Quilts - Part 2. So happy you have come back to see the other quilts! Obviously, the quilter ran short for binding fabric and made do with what was on hand. To me it just adds more charm. And white in any quilt. It is going to be draped over our log railing up in the loft. Binding - indigo blue print/rounded corners. I will continue to research and study th...

Whatever pops into my thoughts.quilting, shelties, gardening, books, travel. Cherry Tree quilt progress. Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A work in progress since January, 2014. It has been quite a journey.and I love the results! This quilt is a design by Di Ford Hall of Australia and published throughout last year in Quiltmania. We did not know what each stage would be which added to the challenge! Now I must baste (my least favorite stage of the quilt making process). Have a good week everyone! Links to this post.

Quilt Like An Eagle. Join our Eagle Quilt Challenge! A year long QAL dedicated to creating the eagle quilt some of us have never quite gotten around to making. Check out our Pinterest boards! Friday, July 3, 2015. Eagles on the Brain. Since I've been working on my Quilt Like An Eagle quilt, I have become much more conscious of eagles as decorative symbols in the world around me. I spied this eagle on a bank's after-hours depository. I purchased some French General Rue Indiennes fabric for the outer borde...

Friday, January 16, 2015. Eagle - Still on the Menu! Howdy, Eagle Quilters! It's been some time since we've chatted about eagle quilts. I haven't stopped thinking about them, but I have let other quilting projects distract me from creating a host of eagles. I did finally finish my eagle "appetizer" project. Div alig...

Nana's Day: January 2014

http://nana-nanasday.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Navigating retirement one day at a time. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Dooby, Dooby Do. The Sundogs of January. January is almost gone and I still haven't made any goals or resolutions although I keep thinking about it. I love to check things off a list or make a clean sweep of the studio when a project is done and heaven knows the basement could use a bit of work. Instead I've decided to be more. And try to stay in the moment. This is a pattern by Lori Smith. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dog Days of Summer.

Nana's Day: Doll Quilt Exchange 2

http://nana-nanasday.blogspot.com/2015/06/doll-quilt-exchange-2.html

Navigating retirement one day at a time. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Doll Quilt Exchange 2. This is the doll quilt I made for Tammy who lives south of Calgary which is not too far from here as we drove it in one day last summer. However, it seemed to take quite a bit of time to get there and had me worried for a while when we were on vacation for a week and I didn't always have a connection to my email. There is machine quilting around the blocks and I hand quilted the windows and border. What a sweet quilt!

Navigating retirement one day at a time. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Last weekend when we returned home from Memorial Day at our son's, I found a package in our mailbox and I could hardly wait until I got into the house to open it! Inside was the beautiful doll quilt on the left from Martha Gray, completely hand quilted with the tiniest of stitches. All the different fabrics were a feast for the eyes. On the back of the quilt was an embroidered label shown on the right. May 28, 2015 at 9:48 PM. May 29, 2015 ...

My great WordPress blog | Just another WordPress site

My great Wordpress blog. An April Arrival in Spain. First day in Denia. What – a Ford……. in Spain? We have been in Spain for two and half years. To all intents and purposes we’d never been here before, apart from a couple of sunny holidays decades ago. We certainly never contemplated retiring here, thanks to the UK media who mainly left us with the impression that the Costas were overrun with puking, drunken Brits and ladette hen parties. It hasn’t all been plain sailing and the inevitable muddles and mi...

A lifestyle and beauty blog. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Review: Pond’s Luminous Finish BB Cream. Thanks for stopping by! Today I have a very conflicted review for you on the Ponds Luminous Finish BB Cream. You can find it at any drugstores for around $12, but I bought mine for $3 at Grocery Outlet, so hopefully they’re not being discontinued. Here are some pros and cons of the product:. The package is very sleek and user friendly. You can easily get the exact amount and every last bit of product. I hope ...

Made from scratch, with love. Sunday, December 11, 2016. So I think in blogs past I've mentioned that I work at Lickity Split in New Holland. I've been there for four years and I love it. My dear bosses (Mitch and Gina) are also my dear friends. They are my frosses? Whatever. I like them and I also work for them. They are lovely people. Generous. Fun loving. Creative. Good salt of the earth people. Gina is an idea girl, as am I. We talk lots. This was not my finest moment. We send pictures of our regular...

July 31, 2015. Review star wars 7 (Obi-Wan one shot). The marvel Star Wars run has been really good so far. It has given a fresh look at some beloved characters. Thoughts From Tess

Reflections From A Southern Girl. Saturday, August 6, 2011. Joanna smiled as the sound of laughter radiated down the hallway and into her room; she tried to remember the last time she had heard this kind of spontaneous, unpracticed joy and was both shocked and saddened to realize that nothing came to mind. How had she allowed her life to become so barren, so empty of the things that made her heart the happiest? When had she become content with the status quo and more willing to exist than to live? After ...

Thoughts From The Alley

Thoughts From The Alley. Thursday, September 10, 2009. My take on Stephanie Meyer. Editor's Note: This is an old post I finally got around to finishing. There is another book worth far more carping from me than Twilight, but more on that one anon. A lowly Freshman, heading toward an English Degree at a snail's pace, steps up to the plate. I'm not going into the details of my grievances with Twilight. Hey, this is commercial fiction. Is effulgent Edward the new serpent? Who are they rebelling against?

In honour of the new Xbox’s release this coming morning, I dug out an old blog post I never finished writing, and thought I'd chuck a rough version of it up here. I have become quite addicted of late to the hand picked articles over at Longform. And today I read a great article. We've come a long way baby. Now I have never been ...
