WoolGathering: The Saga Continues
http://mccauley-julianne.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-saga-continues.html
Time spent in happy delusion is never wasted. Thursday, June 25, 2015. I bet you thought I'd be done with the kitchen by now. I know I did. This was such a limited excursion into remodeling. We had to replace the (original, cast-iron, ca. 1920) pipes, but why install the replacements in the same place, the middle of the room? As long as we were putting new in, why not put them in in someplace that makes sense? More demanding, less tolerant clients than I am. I'm holding hard to the knowledge that onc...

WoolGathering: Knitting Rage
http://mccauley-julianne.blogspot.com/2015/02/knitting-rage.html
Time spent in happy delusion is never wasted. Monday, February 02, 2015. Long, long ago, I bought a super-wash merino/cashmere worsted blend by a small company called "Have You Any Wool" (aka as knitmommy. On Etsy) from Eat.Sleep.Knit. In a colorway called Rage. I like red and it looked like a good one. As it happens, it's more of a strong red over-dyed with black. How could I bear to wear it? Why would I ever want to knit such a thing? Who wants to knit in a rage? Think of what it would do to your gauge.

WoolGathering: April was the cruellest month
http://mccauley-julianne.blogspot.com/2015/05/april-was-cruellest-month.html
Time spent in happy delusion is never wasted. Friday, May 01, 2015. April was the cruellest month. Fair warning. No knitting. I don't think I've written much about this, but I hate my kitchen. I've hated it since the first meal I prepared in it. Also, keep in mind this is a condo. No attic. No basement. No garage. Why would you give up two closets? I figure the original developer/owner/designer/whoever was deeply attached to inefficiency. Something further to keep in mind - they didn't move the pipes.

WoolGathering: Instigated
http://mccauley-julianne.blogspot.com/2008/03/instigated.html
Time spent in happy delusion is never wasted. Friday, March 21, 2008. Are inextricably linked in my mind. I first signed up to Blogger so I could post to the M-D KAL blog. Since the ball-band dishcloths and linen hand towels, there have been the recent afghan-along, the Perfect Sweater, the mitered squares and the bubbly curtain, though I've never touched denim yarn. Despite that, or maybe because of it, I had. For the course. There you are. Kismet. Without Kay, I would have missed it. Yesterday, I set o...

WoolGathering: We're Having Weather Here
http://mccauley-julianne.blogspot.com/2015/02/were-having-weather-here.html
Time spent in happy delusion is never wasted. Thursday, February 19, 2015. We're Having Weather Here. It's cold here. It's been cold here. It is going to continue to be cold here. As we approached record-setting low temperatures last night, The Princess and I were noting how useful wool blankets are. In fact, it occurred to us that a couple more couldn't hurt. That leaves me with only one decision. Either way, I'll end up with a lapful of wool. Which, in this Artic environment,. Posted by Julie McC.

This is Margaret, who teaches at Baskets. She made her Stash to wear to a grandchild's wedding next month. And she BEADED it. Now, I'm a novice when it comes to beading - I've made one beaded bag. Here's a close-up of just one of her beaded sections:. Here we're fixing a cable cross, no mean feat. And in t...

Knitmaven: Writer's bench

N, someone with specialized knowledge, an expert or connoisseur; often self-proclaimed [fr. Yiddish via Hebrew, mevin, understanding]. Tuesday, May 13, 2008. Temporary time-out from knitting today. Because yesterday I spent a lovely chunk of the afternoon writing on this bench at the Morton Arboretum:. Is it surprising what a lot of writing gets done when one is surrounded by waving blue hostas? After my writing session, I took a wee walk around. Here are the surreal tulips:. Back to my knitting.

N, someone with specialized knowledge, an expert or connoisseur; often self-proclaimed [fr. Yiddish via Hebrew, mevin, understanding]. Monday, May 12, 2008. Five or six years ago, whenever the pattern first came out, I made the Mission Falls Kinki jacket from their In Living Colour. The sleeves flow about four inches longer than my hand. The sweater reaches my knees. It's a lovely jacket in person:. The first one was the Sahara, designed by Wendy Bernard for Stitch Diva. I knit it to fit Rachel, tryi...
