For may people the only option for managing DVT has been long term anticoagulation (blood thinning with drugs such as Warfarin) however emerging evidence has increased the possible options for treatment to include clot busting drugs and stents. The classical presenting features of chronic venous insufficiency are oedema, skin changes and lipodermatosclerosis (blackening and hardening of the skin around the ankles) in the presence of underlying deep or superficial venous disease. These are allied with...

Helping raise awareness and donations for Lifeblood. April 2, 2016. Charliemartell1 Row Row Row Your Boat…! Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream ! What wonderful memories these few words bring back, rowing a boat slowly down a stream, no doubt in the sunshine, with the wind blowing softly through the tree’s as the ripples made by the oars float off into the distance. Not quite the same scenario for Charlie Martell. So far this crazy (.

We know how important carers are in helping us look after our patients, and that’s why recognising their support is currently high on our agenda. The Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust strategy Keeping Carers in the Loop sets out our vision of a community health service that works in partnership with carers to the benefit of all patients. We recognise that carers provide many hours of unpaid support for family and friends who are ill, frail, or have long-term health conditions. We also like to in...

Helping raise awareness and donations for Lifeblood. May 31, 2015. When @HCDream2012 met the @charityoars. Well it was a rainy (in fact very rainy) Sunday morning as the Charity Oars travelled to Stoke Mandeville to meet a sporting legend (in the making, and doing very well at it). We were off to meet Hannah Cockroft MBE, an amazing sportswoman who is the World, Paralympic and European Champion specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification. Well, we had nothing to worry about at all, she was...

May 2015 – charityoars
https://charityoars.wordpress.com/2015/05
Helping raise awareness and donations for Lifeblood. May 31, 2015. Thank you @SteelbacksCheer @legsout4LB @northantsccc. So there we were, meeting and chatting to the Northampton CCC squad, getting the Charity Oars and Charity Bats signed, all to help our fundraising campaign. Then all of a sudden the rather dashing Steelback Cheerleaders rather elegantly strolled past. Would it be too much to ask this amazing dancing, cheery bundle of excitement for Northampton CCC to sign the Charity Oars? May 31, 2015.
