Lazy days in Nong Khiaw |
http://through5eyes.com/2011/03/28/lazy-days-in-nong-khiaw
A blog about seeing the world. Lazy days in Nong Khiaw. Nong Khiaw is a stunning small town nestled between towering karst mountains on the banks of the Nam Ou. Sitting on our riverside deck for hours a day, we watched leaves flutter down in the breeze, long painted boats motor past the village, and time float by. The view west from our deck. There was constant activity across the river, as people fished, maneuvered boats, chatted, and came down in the early evening to bathe. Sunset over the Nam Ou.
The view from our office |

A blog about seeing the world. The view from our office. While most vineyards are beautiful places to work, we spent the last few days in a particularly incredible spot perched above the Awatere Valley and the Inland Kaikoura mountain range. Better yet, the work was paid hourly, so we actually had a chance to slack off and enjoy the view! This entry was posted on August 21, 2011 by Five Eyes Films. It was filed under Uncategorized . Lazy days in croc country |
http://through5eyes.com/2011/07/10/lazy-days-in-croc-country
A blog about seeing the world. Lazy days in croc country. One thing was for sure after slogging along the Tabletop Track. The scary part is that in Australia, warning signs mean something. People have met their early and unpleasant ends due to croc attacks inside the park, and the stories are too common and too gruesome for comfort. We wanted to see one from a safe distance, and were on the lookout. On our first day, we spotted a massive yet disappointingly docile-looking fellow on the far side of the ri...
Rewind: Revisiting Kyoto |
http://through5eyes.com/2011/09/05/rewind-revisiting-kyoto
A blog about seeing the world. February, 2011…. After the long days of skiing in Japan’s unbeatable powder and the electronic madness of Tokyo, Kyoto. Was a serene and amazingly gorgeous dose of culture. We stayed at Yonbanchi. Returning each night to Yonbanchi was infinitely more enjoyable than staying at a downtown backpacker’s hostel and it completed an immersion into old Japan. Kyoto lingers in the imagination long after you leave, and it is one place we would no doubt return to. I look forward to he...

the Powell Rapport: March 2011

Thursday, March 31, 2011. My 2011 Masters pick: Ryo Ishikawa. Ryo Ishikawa just pledged to donate all of his 2011 earnings to the relief effort in Japan. Talk about karma! On top of that, he's donating 100,000 yen ($1200) per birdie. And he's 19. What a bro. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. This is why you stay disciplined. And get out when your idea turns on you. If not, profits can turn into losses pretty quickly. And I'm done for the day. What I'm looking at this morning, if anyone cares:. To: Brand, Elton.

Just another WordPress.com site. May 4, 2011. Attendance: I had fairly good attendance. A blog about seeing the world. Home in Vermont. May, 2012. Looking ahead, looking back. It’s been a little over a month since we disembarked from a plane at Burlington International Airport, looking about as bad as we felt after 30 hours of travel time. Despite the idyllic green image of home we held onto for our 16 months away, we were greeted by tired, wet, brown, mid-spring surroundings a truly disheartening time of year. We are not quite done posting to this blog and we’re also cutting together...
