smudging & scratching: August 2012

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 22 August 2012. I invited a group from the Somerset Day Centre to come and see the summer exhibition today as part of a project we are planning with them. As it was our first proper gathering I bought lots of cake and took in table cloths and nice china for a tea party. With the help of volunteers Abby and Ken we laid out an inviting spread which they thoroughly appreciated. The next phase will be for us to go to their centre and run a series of short workshops based on the exhibition. Each dr...

Tuesday, 31 July 2012. FLOW is weaving it's way towards us on Monday 6th August. Two amazing models will work together amongst the massive baskets by Annemarie O'Sullivan. I have asked them to come and interact with the installation and each other while participants in the workshop have the opportunity to draw them. At the beginning of the session which lasts from 10 am till 3 pm people will have the time to make their own drawing tools from basket making materials to use with ink. Wednesday, 18 July 2012.

smudging & scratching: Dolores

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2013/03/dolores.html

Thursday, 21 March 2013. I introduced Dolores to the life drawing group this morning, she made a big impact. Dolores comes from Paula Rego. Here are some of the drawings done of Emma and Dolores this morning, the work was intense and changed by the new dynamic, and very different from when we've had two live models working together. You can see for yourself how exciting the work is, and how much potential for further development of work is revealed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dead rabbit - a blog.

smudging & scratching: February 2013

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 19 February 2013. Something about being in Fabrica makes it possible to be free to experiment, there's an amazing feeling of liberty here which encourages exploration. Also there's something about the generosity of the space that feels so good to work in. A spontaneous comment from someone drawing this morning. Tuesday, 12 February 2013. Collage, Dave and Keith Vaughan. Paper, paint, charcoal, glue, looking, experimenting, sharing. Monday, 11 February 2013. Roller derby comes to life.

smudging & scratching: May 2012

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 14 May 2012. With my head buried in the difficulties of designing a workshop around laughter as a subject, I went off on a tangent the trail of which is now lost, the result however was spectacular (although not in the least bit funny). I rediscovered the old chestnut of the art /science link through the beautiful drawings of the pioneering Spanish neuroscientist Santiago Ramón y Cajal 1852-1934. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). smudging & scratching: March 2012

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, 1 March 2012. Life drawing - February series. During February's series everyone found some surprising and interesting insights into their own work by exploding it and sifting through the fragments. It began with two weeks making many many studies of body parts up close. In the third and final session we spread out, up on the walls and across the floors in the huge empty space of the gallery, reassembling the body parts to make new composite drawings. I was told the process revealed:.

smudging & scratching: January 2013

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 22 January 2013. A shimmering breeze permeated fabrica today in the form of Frankie Cluny dancing Bollywood in full sparkling finery. Life drawing was warmed by rich Indian colours of pthalo green and crimson shot through with gold thread as the participants drew in pastel, charcoal and ink. While the high notes of Lata Mangeshkar echoed in the freezing church the frenetic drawing kept everyone warm or at least unconcerned about the snow outside. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). smudging & scratching: 'Bolt from the blue' paint laboratory

http://smudgingandscratching.blogspot.com/2013/05/from-blue-paint-laboratory.html

Wednesday, 1 May 2013. Bolt from the blue paint laboratory. Yesterday was Blue Monday at Fabrica. For each exhibition I run a day workshop doing something that for me relates to the show and that I think other people will benefit from in some way. In my workshop for Kaarina Kaikonnen's 'The Blue Route' I set up a laboratory to stretch the limits of paint making. Blue pigment was my starting point because of the theme and the connection to Amiens and woad production (see Fabrica website for more info).

Through the Trees Photography : Kim Angilletta

My first memorable photograph was of my friend's backyard. (Exciting, huh? Fast forward 30 years. Today my passion continues for nature and architecture photography. Their intricate details inspire me to slow down, look closely, and appreciate all the creations around us in our everyday lives. I invite you to slow down… Take a look at these images, their details, and get inspired. Wouldn't it be great to have one of these pictures as a reminder to take a moment for yourself? Where would it go?

Tiptoeing Through

Friday, August 14, 2015. This Summer was a long time coming, so now that it has finally arrived, we are drinking it up! Brennen has been enjoying his holidays, and Andrew and I took a week off to relax and enjoy some time together as a family. We were fortunate to have a string of beautiful, warm sunny days that allowed us to make impromptu trips to the park, have picnics in the grass, and enjoy some incredible sunsets from Nanny and Poppy's dock. Here are some photos of what we've been enjoying so far.

Through the Turret Window

Through the Turret Window. Friday, 23 December 2016. Season of Good Will? Last week, at around 11.30pm, a neighbour in my tenement block made it to but not through her front door. She’d got into the close, but was slumped in the stairwell; the remnants of the Office Party were regurgitated over the bottom step. I felt uncomfortable about dealing with this young woman who I didn’t recognise, but luckily an upstairs-neighbour arrived. 8221; she checked. The following morning, the upstairs-neighbour emailed...

Through The Twisted Woods

Through The Twisted Woods. Over The Rainbow: Folk and Fairy Tales from the Margins. Beauty and the Beast. French Canadian Fairy Tales. Through the Twisted Woods: Welcome Page. We hope to push the boundaries of Folk and Fairy Tale narratives to include those tales that live on the fringes of the enchanted woods, the tales that are underrepresented and that push beyond the traditional. We hope to challenge, interrogate, question, and imagine new possibilities within Folk Narrative.
