Get Your Learn On: February 2006

Get Your Learn On. Thursday, February 09, 2006. You Can Lead a Horse to Water. If Jerry Seinfeld was a teacher, he might lament: What's the deal with late work? Why isn't there a simple way to get students to do work on time. I'm not Jerry Seinfeld, but I am a teacher who is struggling with this dilemma. Or is this epidemic, which afflicts most of my students, incurable? In the end, I guess there is no perfect system. I am satisfied with penalizing late work for now: but I hope my students begin to a...

Monday, July 25, 2005. Last blog of the summer. This is the last one for Mrs. Monroe's class. Here's a list of suggestions to make the program better:. So a loan from Ole Miss could be paid off easily in the coming months. We're all committed to the program and teaching. Ben, you've got to be able to find a way to make it happen. I hope there isn't a problem, but it would be a huge setback if there is. You want to make this the best alternative route program in the country? Monday, July 18, 2005. Posted ...

Matt's MTC Blog: New School
http://mattsmtcblog.blogspot.com/2007/01/new-school.html
Saturday, January 06, 2007. So no, it is not business as usual at the new Southaven High School but we're getting there. I am just counting my blessing to be out of that old, over crowded school and into a new state of the art building. How many Mississippi teachers can say that? What a great Christmas present. Sunday, February 12, 2006. Student Apathy is Making Me Apathetic! Spending 70 hours a week busting my butt making worksheets, creating fun and interesting lesson plans (well, I think they're fun), reading online resources, grading papers, and calling parents? Is this my life? Is this what all my hard work throughout my own high school and college education boils down to? Being overworked and underpaid and worst of all, underappreciated? A bunch of 60's and 70's for class averages? What do I have to do?

Sunday, April 30, 2006. Lessons I've learned and the person I strive to be. This year I will try to separate my two lives more; although because Andrea is moving across the country, I guess I don't have much incentive anymore. Well, I suppose my mental health should count for something. So here is my plan to live an enriching life OUTSIDE of school. 1) Only work at school. I will not bring work home even if I have to stay late. 4) Go running more often! Teaching for me is like 2 full time jobs! I rarely ...

Get Your Learn On: October 2005
http://joelkhebert.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Get Your Learn On. Wednesday, October 26, 2005. By the end of the year, I will hopefully have dozens of students I can hold up as shining success stories. Right now, I feel more democratic about this situation. I still believe that success is something that classes can achieve together. If I can remain positive, and my attitude remains unassailable, then my students and I will all be successful this year and beyond. Posted by Joel Hebert at 5:23 PM. Wednesday, August 31, 2005. This is math. You need your book every day." In addition, most of my students got a huge wakeup call when it came to their first test. Most of them did not do too hot. When they got their tests back, they wanted to know when the makeup test would be. I told them that there would not be a makeup test. Most of them were shocked! I never knew that teaching could be so much fun! Posted by David H. Odom at 6:33 PM. David H. Odom. Pope, Mississippi, United States.
