Tokyo the end of Japan. May 25, 2015. So our final stop in Japan and our whole holiday! Our first night was in a hostel in Tokyo and then ending in a nice hotel for the rest of the time. Being we arrived quite late into Tokyo we had a quick evening walk around our area which was the Shinjuku area, and it’s just like Osaka. The next day we walk first checked out Tokyo famous rail station. It was was rebuilt to how it was originally designed but inside it was a modern advanced station. Next we walked to To...

Hiroshima | tightaroundtheworld

https://tightaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/2015/05/19/hiroshima

May 19, 2015. Our next stop was Hiroshima, we only had a day here and about 4/5 hours of travelling. Arriving in the late afternoon we were able to head straight out and view the Peace Memorial located a 10 minute walk from our hotel and also view the only remaining building that survived the first Atomic bomb. This pretty much covers hiroshima, we didn’t have time but there are a few museums maybe worth visiting. We did manage to enjoy some great sushi near the memorial. The next day we spent the mornin...

Final China stop Bejing  | tightaroundtheworld

https://tightaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/2015/05/14/final-china-stop-bejing

Final China stop Bejing. May 14, 2015. Our journey to Bejing began from Xi’an taking the high speed rail instead of going via airport. It was a 5 hour journey and was extremely smooth and ran exactly on time, I think London should take tips from the Chinese when implementing crossrail. We also got to climb to the highest point in Bejing so we could see Bejing’s skyline by day and then by night. Our final day was less actioned pack than the others. We spent 2/3 of the day visiting the Forbidden city w...

Holy Koyasan  | tightaroundtheworld

https://tightaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/2015/05/17/holy-koyasan

May 17, 2015. After Osaka we had a night booked in Koyasan, this is a known holy area full of monasteries and we were too stay in one of them for the night. The journey from Osaka is about 2 hours, we had to take a train, then cable car and then bus. The reason for the cable car is because it is located up in the mountains, 800m above sea level. There were a few key sites to see here, the main being the oldest temple in Koyasan, the Kogobuji Temple, built in the late 1500’s. We actually got to say hi and...

May 14, 2015. Our next stop in China was a place within inland China, called Yangshou. We were flying from shanghai to the main airport of Guilin. This was a 2 hour flight followed by a 1.5hr drive. Interesting fact, Yangshou only became a famous tourist destination in the 90s after a report in the lonely planets books recommending the small village. In the evening we went to see an outside light show, again popular with all the tourists. It’s a show showcasing the local Chinese culture and it&...The sho...

Xi’an home of the Terracotta Warriors | tightaroundtheworld

https://tightaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/2015/05/14/xian-home-of-the-terracotta-warriors

Xi’an home of the Terracotta Warriors. May 14, 2015. We then got our guide to drive us to the city wall. Xi’an has a city wall built thousands of years ago which you can walk around or even cycle around. It’s 13.7km around, we decided to cycle around it. Our evening was spent at a show that showcased the Tang Dynasty culture of music and dance familiar within Xi’an thousands of years ago. It also included a dinner of dumplings which was delicious. Our final stop was the famous emperor Qin’s mausole...
