http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Monday, April 30, 2007. April's NL power rankings. Below you'll see my first batch of rankings for the season. The last two years, we did these on Sundays in the print editions of The Times. Now I've decided to cut back and do them at the end of each month. Here goes the National League. Don't the Hawks wish they could rebound like this. 2 New York -. Everyone thought the Mets had rotation worries. Thank you, John Maine. 3 Los Angeles -. 6 San Diego -. 7 San Francisco -. In le...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: August 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Friday, August 31, 2007. Baker deserves a 'wow'. Scott Baker's performance Friday night shouldn't come as any surprise. The Captain Shreve grad had plenty of inspiration. Pitching in the second game of a doubleheader precipitated by the I-35W bridge collapse, Baker retired the first 24 Kansas City batters he faced Friday night, carrying a perfect game into the ninth inning. Here's hoping things at home work out the same way. Posted by Jason Pugh at 10:51 PM. So when rosters ex...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: June 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Saturday, June 30, 2007. It's the end of month No. 3 of the Major League Baseball season. So let's rank the teams in each league. As the All-Star break approaches, here's how the American League rankings look:. By a hair over the Angels. Sox. Need to find their missing offense. Swept at home by the Royals, but bounce back in Charm City. No shame in getting handled by Santana - by Texas' staff is another thing altogether. Indians have great last at-bat karma. 8 New York -.

The Times Talkin' Baseball: July 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Deadline deals make up for slow start. Finally we got some trading action over the last 36 hours. And no one was more involved than the Texas Rangers, who may have shifted the balance of power in the NL East race while keeping Boston in the driver's seat in the AL East. Oh and don't forget the Rangers sending Kenny Lofton back home to Cleveland. Posted by Jason Pugh at 9:33 PM. Monday, July 30, 2007. Big trade for big Tex. I have been, on this blog in p...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: November 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Friday, November 30, 2007. I'm getting tired of . Usually I'd say Alex Rodriguez, but the AL MVP has been quiet for a couple of weeks now. No, now I'm tired of the incessant Johan Santana/Miguel Cabrera trade rumors. Please get here Dec. 3. The Winter Meetings need to start so these rumors can end. On a related note, wasn't it just recently teams were unwilling to part with young prospects, or so they said? Posted by Jason Pugh at 11:23 PM. Thursday, November 29, 2007. He shou...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: February 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Childress has Aggies on right track. In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a fan of Texas A&M in anything. In fact, I almost abhor the Aggies (except a few friends who attended school there) in any sport. But, as a journalist, I have to give credit where it is due. And so a tip of the proverbial cap to second-year Aggies baseball coach Rob Childress, a former NSU Demons assistant coach. Posted by Jason Pugh at 2:55 PM. Seeing the Bucs in th...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: September 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Sunday, September 30, 2007. End of an era. Part of me felt old Sunday. That part was the part that still remembers watching Atlanta Braves baseball on WTBS, now simply TBS. And I don't mean in the years of 14 straight division titles either. I mean the years where Dale Murphy was the only good thing the Braves had going. The days when a young Tom Glavine was unknown and John Smoltz and Greg Maddux had yet to arrive at Fulton County Stadium. Posted by Jason Pugh at 9:55 PM.

The Times Talkin' Baseball: October 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Good news for Tech. Luke Burnett picked up his first honor of the 2008 season earlier this week courtesy of Baseball America. Burnett ranked 14th on the magazine's list of the 30 top college draft prospects and finally gives Louisiana some recognition as far as that goes. Baseball America listed only one state player among its Top 100 high school prospects for the 2008 draft. Posted by Jason Pugh at 8:50 PM. Tuesday, October 30, 2007. That's right&...

The Times Talkin' Baseball: March 2007
http://timesbaseball.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
The Times Talkin' Baseball. Saturday, March 31, 2007. MLB predictions, part II. With pseudo Opening Day less than 36 hours away, here's my yearly stab at predicting the National League. (No guarantees here, nor in October). NL East Champion: Philadelphia. The Phillies have a powerful core of young players and a surplus of starting pitching. Oh and Pat Gillick's in the front office. The latter is never, I repeat, never a bad thing. NL Division Series: Philadelphia over St. Louis; Atlanta over Arizona.
