You can’t teach an old dog new tricks…or can you? – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/you-cant-teach-an-old-dog-new-tricks-or-can-you
Welcome to my blog. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks…or can you? I was reading Loveability by Robert Holden this morning, mainly because we are about to include an author interview in Rapport, and I was attracted to the book after reading the interview! Love is your spiritual DNA he writesand I am willing to believe that now I would have shuddered at this statement 30 years ago because my degree is in Genetics, and I was still struggling with the paradox of mixing science and spirituality. Boy, am I...

A fresh start…? – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/a-fresh-start
Welcome to my blog. A fresh start…? I like September. There is something in the air that suggests a fresh start, new beginnings. Perhaps it is because September marks the start of a new academic year, young people starting school, moving on to secondary school…or moving on to University, gap years, new jobs? There is a downside too during the long school break, whilst I enjoy feeling more relaxed, and I also find I am less focussed and a bit more woolly headed! Subscribe to the comments on this post.

Best Practice – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/category/best-practice
Welcome to my blog. Eded up’ a bit of my yoga practice this morning, because I wanted to squeeze in an extra bit of meditation/personal reflection during my reflective morning time. I then found myself challenging whether or not I had done ‘enough’ yoga…and then wondered what, exactly, does ‘enough’ look like? I have been watching Masterchef (I am not a good cook, by any stretch of the imagination! And then we end up actually doing too much…. So what is ‘enough’? So I am going to practice ‘enoughne...

Run towards your goals…and remember to look back! – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/runtowardsyourgoals
Welcome to my blog. Run towards your goals.and remember to look back! Running is a great metaphor for achieving goals and I have learned a lot more about my goal achieving strategies, by applying them to running. Here are three tips from my goal achieving toolbox:. 1 How do you eat an elephant (assuming you want to)? 2 When the going gets tough. 3 Keep a record of your achievements. There are two reasons for this: First to measure what progress you are actually making and second, to remind yourself just ...

Personal Reflections – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/category/personal-reflections
Welcome to my blog. Overwhelm has many guises. I lay in bed at silly o’clock this morning, deep in thought (I often choose thinking as an alternative to sleeping). Initially, I was excited because we have a bank holiday weekend approaching, which means a three days ‘off’… a welcome pause from work and busy-ness. And that is what I do…fill my time with things to do rather than creating space for things to evolve…no wonder I feel overwhelmed. So perhaps I will spend this weekend pausing more and creating s...

Aspergers and Autism – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/category/aspergers-autism
Welcome to my blog. Category: Aspergers and Autism. Back to School…BIG School. My younger son, who has Aspergers, started secondary school today, and left the house this morning, wearing his new school tie (that’s a novelty) and blazer (2 sizes too big, of course)! Aspergers children are particularly wary of change, and yet all children starting secondary school this week may have anxieties about this big step up in school life. Future Pacing / Visualisation. Mental (and practical) Rehearsal. I’ve been u...

We all like Champions… – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/180
Welcome to my blog. We all like Champions. I started wondering how much the crowd may have supported Murray towards achieving this victory – surely their cheers and banners and encouragement must have helped? Certainly, Team Murray were influential, as Murray acknowledged at the end of the match. Having never been a natural sportsperson, I decided I would never know what that cheerleading would feel like! So now I know – having someone cheering you on and routing for you does make a difference. Enter you...

Lessons Learned for 2014 – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/lessonslearnedfor2014
Welcome to my blog. Lessons Learned for 2014. As you look back over 2013, remember to congratulate yourself for the steps you have taken this year…steps forward and backwards are all valuable, as they enable us to adjust our course and ensure our actions keep us on track. I was looking at my own goal list earlier this week and realised I have learned three valuable lessons to take forward into 2014:. Subscribe to the comments on this post. Leaping into the Unknown… – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/leaping-into-the-unknown
Welcome to my blog. Leaping into the Unknown…. I have always been pretty good at stepping outside my comfort zone doing Trainer’s Training, I think, proved that. However, as I discovered recently, there was a whole further level of comfort zone which I decided to face up toand then put behind me! I have always been a ‘little nervous’ of heights and have spent too many years watching my children enviously as they fearlessly swing from the trees and scale rope ladders. After all those years of worry, when ...

Guilty My Lord – Welcome to my blog
http://karenmoxom.com/191
Welcome to my blog. What exactly am I guilty of today? Well, after many years of being on the personal development journey, I realised, very recently, that on a number of occasions in the past, I have used my personal development knowledge to beat myself up. Yes, I was guilty of assaulton myself! Would I have said these things to my best friend, if she had shared her challenges with me? Where was my compassion for myself? And the reason I share this is because I was talking with a member of ANLP the othe...
