About Us -Toleza Farm
http://www.tolezafarms.com/community
Introduction to the Community. The farm is located in one of the poorest areas in Malawi. As this section shows, we play a small part in the process of bringing hope, confidence and self-reliance to our community. There is so much more that can be done for which we have neither the resources nor the capacity. We welcome partners, colleagues and cooperation initiatives in these goals. The opportunities available vary from a formal volunteer programme.

Toleza is a large 4,500 acre commercial farm which has a herd of nearly 600 cattle. It has an expanding local outgrowers programme and has invested heavily in on-farm processing plants that enable it to produce Flour, Cotton Lint, Oils, Soap and other products. Anxious to conserve its woodland and original forest area, Toleza has ambitious plans for replanting to sustain a balance between the forest and farmland.

The most obvious area of dependence for the farm is that of energy and, in particular, fuel. We hope to achieve our goal of self-sufficiency through the cultivation of Jatropha, a small tree that already grows wild in Malawi, known locally in Chichewa as "Tsatsi", through extraction of oil from the plant fruit. For more details on our biofuel programmes. Video: Jatropha Farming and Processing at Toleza Farms.
