The Charis Home – Mapping Ezra

Phin was not so sure what he thought about us trying to convince him that there is a baby inside my tummy. He still doesn’t quite grasp that concept, but he did have fun pointing to the picture and trying to see if the colors would rub off on his fingers. We were successful in getting him to say “baby”, which I consider an accomplishment. It is so sweet to watch my boys learn and hopefully love their little brother. My prayer is that they will adjust well when he arrives and changes all of our lives.

I can’t be the only one who has those days where there is just no motivation to get things done. Today I will make myself do what I need to do, because those things aren’t going to take care of themselves. I know at the end of the day, I will be happy that I did it and will have a sense of accomplishment. Delayed gratification, folks! Here’s to pressing on and getting the mundane done, and being able to look back and know you’ve done what needed to be done! November 13th, 2013. About the Author: Courtney.

The Charis Home – Ezra

My little guy decided to show up later than his older brothers, actually waiting until his due date. We kicked off December 11 with contractions shortly after midnight. This was our first home birth experience, and it was wonderful. Most of the 15-hour labor was pretty mellow, and I’m pretty thankful that the last little part was short. Recovery has been quite a bit slower the third time around. My ligaments are still slightly sore, even almost six weeks later. I didn’t wait long to make a visit ...We’re...

Since we do homeschool preschool for Weslee, we can be pretty flexible and creative with how we decide to teach certain things. For this week’s history lesson, Ken told the boys about the Reformation, and Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to Wittenberg’s door. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Reformation, we celebrate Reformation Day on October 31 because that’s when Luther nailed his Theses to Wittenberg and dissented from the Catholic Church, which was under the control of Pope Leo X.

We currently have two puppies. We bred our mini Aussie and she had a litter of five, and we still have a couple of her little girls left. I love puppies, but if you’ve ever raised one, you also know that they can cause their share of stress on the owner. I was thinking about how God has given us the intuition to make a masterpiece (culinary or otherwise) out of something we may have initially thought was worthy of the trash bin. It really shouldn’t be that surprising, should it? October 30th, 2012. About...

The Charis Home – Use Your Listening Ears
http://thecharishome.com/use-your-listening-ears
Use Your Listening Ears. I always thought that was a funny phrase, Use your listening ears. Every time I heard it I just wanted to retort with, You mean we have non-listening ears, too? I understand the saying now that I have children and I find the words coming out of my own mouth. I use it to try and teach my children to do more than just hear, but to really listen to what’s being said to them. I held back on that urge (parenting win), and decided to hear him out. Here’s to using our ears to do more th...

I'm a 47 year old shrinking Italian comedian. I've been married for 27 years. In a ROW! I have two grown sons so I'm basically an overweight, middle aged, balding ATM machine. Tuesday, May 17, 2005.
