In the months leading up to the summer of 2006, a group of friends decided that they wanted to hike "The John Muir Trail" in California's High Sierra. For a bit more distance, they added another 50 miles or so of the Pacific Crest Trail onto the beginning. This is a journal of that trip as reported by the husband of one of the group. In the early 1970’s, Janet read about this new Pacific Crest Trail in a National Geographic magazine and vowed to, someday, complete the journey from Mexico to Canada. Well, it’s 2010, someday is here, and Janet is fulfilling a lifelong dream. Janet is dedicating her hike to raise funds for the Siskiyou Land Trust. Endowment in an effort to provide the resources needed to save those special places which are in danger of being lost to over development.

Well now that the dust has settled a bit off the boots and I’ve had a few down days, I’m reflecting on the experience of being a thru hiker on the PCT. So much to digest. I’m sure that it will be months and possibly years that the lessons learned on the trail will reveal themselves.
