Toasted Filberts

Just saying what you were already thinking. Sunday, September 1, 2013. What we did over our summer. Ah, September. As the last bits of summer fade away and fall starts to move in, I can feel the funk that descends on me every summer (and usually keeps me from blogging) finally passing. In honor of the kiddies heading back to school, I thought I'd indulge in one of those time honored exercises: writing about what I, or in this case Daisy and I, did over our summer. We went to Kennywood a lot. As September...

Toasted Filberts: Ways to kill calories and still stay cool

http://www.toastedfilberts.blogspot.com/2013/07/ways-to-kill-calories-and-still-stay.html

Just saying what you were already thinking. Monday, July 8, 2013. Ways to kill calories and still stay cool. Summer is in full swing, and if you're like Daisy and I are, the idea of exercising in this heat is less than pleasant. We still manage to get ourselves to the gym, regardless, but not everyone is as dedicated to going to the gym as we are, whatever the temperature. So, here are some ways that you can get some sun and fresh air, burn some calories, and still keep your cool (or at least most of it):.

Toasted Filberts: November 2011

http://www.toastedfilberts.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Just saying what you were already thinking. Monday, November 28, 2011. Just a couple more reasons to love coffee. I love coffee. I don’t feel guilty about how much I love coffee. Not in the slightest. It’s my calming agent. The rock I need when the seas turn stormy. There is nothing that gets me started for the day like my morning cups of coffee, and the cup I have in the last hour of work, or right after I finish work for the day, eases me into a calm and productive evening. Friday, November 25, 2011.

The Ranter's Row: October 2011

http://therantersrow.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Happily tossing rocks at glass houses. RICK PERRY TURNING TAIL? Now, Perry wants to skip the rest of the debates. I hate picking on him so, but he just makes it too easy for me. I mean, what planet is he living on where he thinks making such a claim will work in his favor? When he's taking a whole lot of heat about his past debate performances, getting too friendly with Donald Trump and his stupid Birther ploy, and his tax plan that does nothing to simplify the tax code (which is a lot. That tactic, of r...

Happily tossing rocks at glass houses. DONORS GIVE MONETARY PREFERENCE TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Raise your hand if you're surprised more donations are going to the DNC now than the GOP. Anyone? On Saturday, the Washington Post ran an article. About the big fundraising gains that the Democratic party is posting in comparison with their Republican counterparts, and I swear there was more than a hint of surprise in the article's tone. I don't think it gets more telling than that. From Statler: I liked Penn's.

Happily tossing rocks at glass houses. WHERE BOEHNER GETS HIS ROLE AS SPEAKER WRONG. Not so long ago, when Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House, the name they called John Boehner (among others) was simply Leader of the Party of No. Since replacing Pelosi as Speaker after the Democrats got their butts handed to them in the 2010 elections, Boehner has actually earned my respect, off and on. Again And, again. And, again. Nancy Pelosi knew this, and so she pushed as hard as she could, as often as she could&...

Happily tossing rocks at glass houses. THE BOOKSTORE IS NOT A LIBRARY. To the people in the magazine section of Barnes and Noble yesterday, the chairs by the window are there so that you can sit and. The magazines before you buy. They are not there for you to sit down, read the magazines cover-to-cover, and then leave without buying anything. GAY PEOPLE = ALCOHOLICS? According to Rick Perry, yes. I want to thank David Weigel of Slate.com. In Rick Perry's 2008 book,. He wrote this about homosexuals:.
