Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong

Teaching English in Suwon. Sunday, September 5, 2010. Days left in Korea: 2. My year in Korea is over. It's hard to believe. A year seems like so long ago. At the same time, these past 6 months seemed to have slipped away from me more quickly than I had anticipated. I think I will always look back on my time here in Korea with fondness. I'm nostalgic and I haven't even left yet. Some pictures from my goodbye party. Eating dinner in Gangnam. Keith, Helen, and Sarah. Mercedes and Matt at the bar Woodstock.

Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong: Jeju Island

http://tonguetiedinyeongtong.blogspot.com/2010/08/jeju-island.html

Teaching English in Suwon. Saturday, August 28, 2010. Last week I had the opportunity to go to Jeju Island for a few days. I left on Friday after work from Gimpo airport. I took a bus to Gangnam and then took the express train (line 9, brown) straight to the airport. It was so easy I almost felt guilty. The family's apartment on left and where Helen and I stayed on the right. First we took a small hike to see a spectacular view of the island. After lunch (which was delicious! We spent the rest of the day...

Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong: August 2009

http://tonguetiedinyeongtong.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Teaching English in Suwon. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Skyping with my students. But when you say it in real life it comes out more like "Who wantsta asker a question? And that is normal to a native English speaker but can be confusing if you don't know the language very well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they could. This will make my teaching much more fun and easier too. They asked me questions like:. What is your favorite hobby? What is your favorite food? Do you have any brothers or sisters?

Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong: March 2010

http://tonguetiedinyeongtong.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Teaching English in Suwon. Monday, March 22, 2010. The way I feel about snow is as follows:. That's right. I said it. It's uncool to snow in March, especially after the 21st which is the first day of Spring (according to US folklore). Today, I'll have you know, is the 22nd and therefore it is unacceptable that there be snow anywhere in sight. But since there is, I took a few pictures. It is with utter disgrace that I show these to you. Spring, you better come soon. My patience is wearing thin. Finally it...

Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong: November 2009

http://tonguetiedinyeongtong.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Teaching English in Suwon. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Today, Thursday October 26th, is Thanksgiving. At school I traced my hand on the whiteboard and drew a turkey with a bright red wattle. Next to it I wrote "Happy Thanksgiving! Behold my fabulous Thanksgiving feast! Ok, not so fabulous, but edible nonetheless. To the right of the watermelon slice is some Ambrosia salad, corned mashed potatoes, a Korean pancake, coleslaw, 2 pieces of Tteokbokki. And some stir fry mix with broccoli. Yesterday I went to...

Tongue-Tied in Yeongtong: February 2010

http://tonguetiedinyeongtong.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Teaching English in Suwon. Saturday, February 13, 2010. Gettin' my fortune told. Since coming to Korea I've been itching to get my fortune told. I have seen fortune tellers everywhere, from on the street, in coffee shops, and even inside the grocery store. Finally, I had my chance to go! So last week instead of sitting down at Angel In Us coffee shop as we always do, we went to a tea shop for our fortunes. I loved. Check out that sweet ceiling! I am stubborn but it is because I have very strong morals th...
