a good story: Taiwan
http://anlih.blogspot.com/2007/01/taiwan.html
Tuesday, January 09, 2007. Taiwanese politics, shanghainese food, and family friends. 71 Earthquake, first in 100 years. Of all the days and all the places to take a short trip, my parents and I chose the normally sleepy beach town of Kenting to get some extra warmth for the winter. We actually had a great time walking through the Kenting National Forest, which turned out to be more like Brooklyn Botanical Garden with paved paths and flora transplanted from different regions. We spend about four hours si...

Discover you are not able to, OR are TOO able. On our one and only night in. En route from T. Airport, in the airplane on the flight to. At the Kimpo airport in. And on the flight to. This seemed to work quite well (and some would argue. That Richard should have followed Brian’s. Out on the joyous satisfaction of gluttonous.

a good story: We survived the leeches
http://anlih.blogspot.com/2000/05/we-survived-leeches.html
Monday, May 08, 2000. We survived the leeches. 8-Day Trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Kimpo Airport (Seoul, Korea): Yearning for Nepal. Nothing like an eleven-hour plane ride and a ten-hour layover in a stuffy, stagnant airport transfer room to kick off our Himalayan adventure. T. He unforgettable stench of chlorine that emanates from the bathroom (attempting to hide the stink of urine underneath). Welcomes us back to Asia. Energy are drained even though we have not moved in the last seven hours.

Saturday, November 24, 2007. Peru - Part II (inca trail). Day 1: Km 82 (9,000 ft) to Wayllabamba (9,840 ft), via Llaqtapata (8,692 ft). We drove to Km 82 where we would starting hiking, though the first day's trail was not yet the real Inca Trail. Our first scenic rest stop was one of the only two places on this side of Peru where Chicha (a 'sacred offering to Pacha Mama' aka 'really strong beer') was available. All the guides, including ours, make a pit stop here. While waiting for lunch,. The minute we...

a good story: Peru - Part I (yoga retreat)
http://anlih.blogspot.com/2007/11/peru-part-i-yoga-retreat.html
Saturday, November 10, 2007. Peru - Part I (yoga retreat). Health in the Body, Peace in the Spirit, Love in the Heart. It is this that we wish, for ourselves, for mother earth, and for our brothers and sisters. Some higher being must be trying to teach me a lesson in the art of zen. Wrong It can, and did. And in Peru, it takes them SEVEN. Luckily, Carlos (right-hand man of yoga retreat owner) intercepted and talked them into giving him the bag, and he delivered to the retreat center. I didn´t really...

Tuesday, January 20, 1998. Toe jam, rats and minorities. Yunan, Guang Xi Province). Xi Shuang Banna, southern Yunan. The flight from Beijing to Kunming (capital of Yunan province) was delayed SEVEN HOURS. Luckily, we had entertainment while we waited - watching a little kid take a DUMP on the floor of the one-room airport. Yeh, right - this is China we're talking about. We made several interesting short excursions - two to three days max for each excursion then returning to our homebase to take showers a...

a good story: Paradise Lost
http://anlih.blogspot.com/2003/07/paradise-lost.html
Sunday, July 06, 2003. Through purgatory and back (ok so it was more like multiple immense valleys and miles of treacherous switchbacks but hey, close enough), we journeyed to taste the sweet nectar of paradise lost - the famed, secluded Kalalau Beach in Kuai. We broke up the trek into two and nine-mile segments on the way out. The first night we camp at Hanakapei Beach - otherwise known as 'Windy, Muggy, and Hoppin' with Frogs' Beach. The morning after, checking for mosquito bites. Are we there yet?

Tuesday, November 18, 1997. Da Tong is famous for the Hanging Monastery (Wu Tai Shan), and it was. Was supposed to be doable in one day. "No need to spend the night as it's only a seven hour train ride from Beijing," everyone said, "plus the food is really bad". A small, secluded monastic village and Lama Temples nestled in the mountain ranges of Wu Tai Shan." yada yada yada. We both agreed that we just HAD to go there. Bus #1, Random Town #1, Sunday morning. Bus #2, Random Town #2, Sunday afternoon.

a good story: Simple things
http://anlih.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-watched-i-love-aaron-kwok-special-on.html
Sunday, June 14, 2009. His videos are awesome to watch because it's all dancing, and he has really good Janet (or even Michael) Jackson-in-the-old-days-type dancing at that. Given this is the land of silicon chip manufacturers, there's something very wrong with being on dial-up. After a lot of running around from telecom stores to 7-11's to electronics stores, it was confirmed for me that my only option was to go to a cafe with wi-fi. Sigh.
