For We are Jolly Good Fellows!: December 2013
http://wearejollygoodfellows.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 7, 2013. Jumping out of a Perfectly Good Plane. James' (son) birthday is very soon, Lisa (wife) bought him a sky dive. As she couldn't be here, we were minding the kids and recording the event. So, what is it like - jumping out of a perfectly good plane? Here is the place to go . And of course there are forms to fill in and sign. And now his name is on the whiteboard - "James. T14" because he is jumping out (in tandem with an instructor) at 14 000 feet. Now we have quite a wait. And th...

Brisbane Master Class: December 2010
http://brisbanemasterclass.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Living in Brisbane city while doing our Masters at Wollongong. Saturday, December 18, 2010. Studies finished, time to head south. Despite the inclement weather . it rained most of the way as we drove to Orange (NSW) to visit our old friends S and C - with whom we also spent time with when we were in the UK. We spent three happy days with them in their country-style cottage, helping them look after three little girls. Lovely little spot to recover from the rigours of study and all that! We both got all cl...

For We are Jolly Good Fellows!: June 2014
http://wearejollygoodfellows.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 13, 2014. A new adventure starts - in Northam. So we don't really want to go to Ningbo. (Although they have offered us jobs - six weeks later.). Northam looks nice, though, doesn't it? And there might be some jobs there - or we could just kinda retire .). For some people living in a place like Northam in the wheat-belt area of Western Australia would be ordinary. But after everywhere we've been, for us it is another new adventure. So what's in Northam? And, of course, there is lots more!

The British Job: Sussex - castles and churches
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007/11/sussex-castles-and-churches.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Saturday, November 3, 2007. Sussex - castles and churches. Not only did Charlotte's family squeeze over to give us somewhere to stay, but Charlotte's mum, Susan - a very knowledgeable person in the local area, history and folklore - took us around a bit to show us some places. We went to visit this magnificent old church at Lyminster, quite near Rustington. On another day we went to Chichester. And come back later to find their car inundated. That side o...

The British Job: Nothing is brighter than Brighton
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007/11/nothing-is-brighter-than-brighton.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Friday, November 2, 2007. Nothing is brighter than Brighton. Charlotte picked us up at Brighton railway station - bags and all squeezed into her tiny red car - and we trundled along the scenic coastal route (a decision we all instantly regretted as we were soon tightly traffic jammed). We paused along the way to have an actual look at the actual beach at Brighton. Not quite Bondi, though, ay? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Websites for ESL.

The British Job: Rustington!
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007/11/rustington.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Friday, November 2, 2007. What a delightful name for a little place in England! Charlotte and her mother and brother live in this tiny end-of-terrace home in Rustington. This was really our first taste of home life in Britain - it's all a lot more squeezy than we are used to in Oz - and this lovely family all squeezed over just a little more so that we would have a place to stay. But what has Peter noticed? What's the big deal? This was a very special me...

Howdi Saudi: Party Time!
http://howdisaudi.blogspot.com/2009/01/party-time.html
Teaching in Riyadh, the next stage of our adventure. Friday, January 30, 2009. Right after our last break - half a semester ago now - we had a party at Dar Al Uloom. It was to celebrate Eid - well, the holiday we had just had. There was a (very big) cake. Underneath that perfect creamy icing, half of it was chocolate and half was vanilla. It was a bit like Alice in Wonderland eating from two sides of the mushroom. And then there were drinks. And lots of other yummy foods. Even doughnuts, and Arabic coffee.

Howdi Saudi: July 2009
http://howdisaudi.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Teaching in Riyadh, the next stage of our adventure. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Yeah, you're right. This is not Riyadh. (Riyadh has a special beauty all its own.). This is Brisbane. It's really lovely - and right now the weather makes it even more stunning. Yesterday we rode one of the CityCat ferries up the river from where we are staying at New Farm with son, and stepped off at South Bank. It was lovely. Only $15 for four turns around. And then we watched kids (large and small) playing with water. Brisb...
