At the Blue tier. After Victoria, I did the jump over to Tassie to meet with my friend Suzy. I had visited her during my first Australia voyage. After loading our stuff and getting familiar with different devices, we headed for Hobart and the South coast to meet friends and get provisions. Suzy and I met when sailing the Eye. And that was a good exercise for driving a camper on Tassie roads. So we quickly developed the command sea conditions! And - what a delight - it was cherry season in Tassie!

Tasmania and New South Wales. Hobart with Sue and Geoff. Concert in the town hall. Ross and his boat. Then I headed off for Sydney to begin the official tour. After a short, cold and cloudy day we went via Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay towards the Queensland border. Tasmania Vol. 2.

The wonders of the forrest. Staying with Deb and Tiger. Dinner in Hervey Bay. The southern Barrier Reef. Evening on Lady Elliot. Birds from very close. Cairns in the evening. On the way to Mission Beach I left the bus another time to visit Kay in Townsville. We reached our northernmost point in Port Douglas to follow the coastline back to Cairns, where the first part of the tour ended and the airplane to Alice Springs departed. Tasmania Vol. 2.

Day 1 - Koala day. Day 2 - shoreline sights. Day 3 - up and down. Day 4 - to the Apostels. Day 5 - finishing up. The burned gum trees. At the camp ground. Melbourne is terrific. It is a big modern city, still preserving it's young history and a friendly, welcoming character. It does not suffer yet from the concrete sins of the 70's and 80's of last century - I'm not even sure they are hidden or not existing at all. Houses on Elisabeth street. Houses bit outside the city.

The long road (s). My first Australia holiday 2002. Began in Tasmania and then went on as coach tour from Sydney along the East coast up to Port Douglas. Then we flew to the centre, visiting Ayers Rock and the McDonnell Ranges. Again by coach, we went northwards along the Stuart highway to the Top End, visiting Kakadu National Park and finishing in Darwin. That was nice, but when returning in 2011. Remember: I'm an interested tourist, not a scientist. Anyway: Enjoy the site! Tasmania Vol. 2.
